We make wooden blinds with our own hands. How to make pivoting wooden blinds Wooden blinds mechanism

I've always been amazed beautiful view wooden products and structures. Natural materials that are used in wall or floor cladding create a warm and cozy design. Most recently, I put in my house wooden windows and realized that now the old metal blinds are completely out of place. My friend advised me to make wooden blinds with my own hands and it seemed to me great idea. I always carry out repairs at home on my own - I installed the windows myself, I did the slopes and window sills myself, and therefore I also decided to make wooden blinds with my own hands.

We consider the types and features

At the moment, there are a huge number of varieties of blinds, they can be made of plastic or aluminum, as well as fabric. But undoubtedly the most refined and original are wooden blinds. They can be divided into the following groups:

  • Vertical - This position allows you to control the sunlight. Blinds are somewhat similar to ordinary curtains, but are more functional. In addition, wooden lamellas visually lengthen the height of the room. Using vertical elements, you can close not only the window in the room, but the balcony doors, which are an additional source of light
  • Horizontal - Suitable for narrow rooms, allow you to limit sunlight due to the design of the "ladder". Most often used for office space
  • Roman lamellas are small in width, and the whole structure is rolled up

Fixing the blinds is possible both to the ceiling space and to the opening above the window. Some craftsmen use double-sided tape instead of fasteners, but I advise you to use more reliable materials.

Important! Wooden blinds are environmentally friendly and are not capable of harming health. The same cannot be said about plastic structures.

Self-manufacturing

Wooden blinds on the balcony

If you have certain skills or you decide to try to make blinds yourself, then let's look at all the steps that allow you to carry out the work efficiently. Before you make wooden blinds, you should stock up on material. In general, any type of wood is suitable for blinds, but it would be best:

  1. Bamboo
  2. Corkwood

Think in advance about the placement of the blinds - this also determines the size of future slats. For small rooms, it is better to mount the structure in a window opening, but wooden blinds that go beyond the window will require additional fasteners.

Follow this sequence:

  • Take measurements of the window opening, which will be decorated with wooden blinds
  • Divide the window height by 11 to find out how many slats you need.
  • Find out how long the panels will be. If you decide to install wooden blinds in the opening, then a couple of centimeters should be subtracted from its total width

To make lamellas, use a sawmill, in some cases it is possible to order ready-made slats. If a sawmill is used, then after cutting out the parts, they require grinding. Subsequently, they are fired with blowtorch and treated with stain. For decorative and protective purposes, it is worth opening the panels with varnish - this will extend the life of the structure and give it a more impressive look.

When the slats are ready and completely dry, we can proceed to drilling holes. Select the middle of all the lamellas and make a hole there - the inserted hook will allow you to attach to the base. Next, take the thread that will hold the structure on itself and measure out two pieces that will be 20 cm longer than our new blinds. The third thread, which will be in the middle, will allow you to control the lighting - its length should be two times the height of the window. The next steps are:

  1. The first bar is located between the ends of the thread and is fixed with a clamp or a large knot.
  2. The next bar is installed after a short distance - for all lamellas it will be one
  3. When the last lamella of the blinds is installed, the ends of the thread are tied and fixed at the top. The central one is located so as to keep the lamellas in the open position. When loosened, wooden blinds will close

Benefits of natural material

Wooden blinds in the interior of the apartment

Handmade wooden blinds will delight you for a very long time. In addition to the spectacular appearance, the blinds made of wood will create a comfortable and calm environment. Agree, it is much more pleasant to be in a room with wooden curtains than metal elements. The advantages of using natural material for self-made curtains:

  • The material is environmentally friendly and does not harm the health of others
  • Blinds can safely be called universal. They are able to fit into various interior solutions, if they are made with natural motifs.
  • Durable - this design can last much longer than its other counterparts
  • It is very easy to take care of the material - in case of accumulation of dust, it is enough to vacuum the slats or wipe with a soft cloth

The only disadvantage of using wooden blinds is the instability of the material to the influence of moisture. Therefore, it is better to use such designs in rooms with an optimal level of humidity, and if you need curtains for the bathroom, then plastic or aluminum blinds are better.

Wooden blinds for windows

V Lately the use of such "curtains" is much more common than the boring curtains. This is due to the constant washing of curtains and the accumulation of dust on them. Modern blinds are very easy to clean from dirt and there is no need to even dismantle the panels. By the way, even special brushes have appeared in stores that follow the contour of the panels, they can speed up the cleaning process. by the way wooden panels more resistant to mechanical damage. Aluminum elements can bend under pressure and do not return to their original position.

Given the high cost of finished products from natural materials, we suppose that detailed instructions how to make wooden blinds with your own hands will be very useful for readers.

Training

To make homemade wooden blinds, you need to prepare all the components.

In the process of work you will need:

  • a wooden lath 30-50 mm wide, the length depends on the size of the opening, 2-3 mm thick, parts can be purchased on the market or dissolve the board yourself on a special machine;
  • kapron cord;
  • braid 20-30 mm wide;
  • bar 40 * 20 mm - 2 pcs, the length of the opening, 1 - cornice + 1 - bottom bar;
  • joiner's glue PVA;
  • sandpaper, it is more convenient to work with abrasives on hard foam rubber, as shown in the photo below, you will need No. 60, 320, 800, you can take tape or circles and grinder, the work will go faster;

  • rings with self-tapping screws - 3 pcs.;
  • brackets for attaching the eaves - 2 pcs., the type of attachment depends on where the blinds will be installed, on the wall or ceiling;
  • clamps 3 pcs.;
  • primer transparent on wood;
  • stain;
  • a brush, foam rubber or a special gun, whichever is more convenient for you.
  • perseverance, free time and a great desire to make wooden blinds with your own hands.

Step-by-step instruction

We will make horizontal blinds 1.5 m wide, 2.0 m high, from slats 50 mm wide. We count the number of rails: 2000: 50 = 40 pieces of 1.5 m in length.

How to make slats

We select the rails, carefully inspect so that there is no resin, and the bar does not go by helicopter. Cut to size. We measure the middle of the width, draw a line along the entire strip with a simple pencil, then:

  • find the center, put a mark;
  • we measure each edge by 30-50 mm, mark it.

We make holes with a 2.5 mm drill, this will be a template. We apply the rest of the rails to it, be sure to trim it so that all the edges match, outline and drill holes. We take abrasive No. 60, first we grind the flat surfaces of the rail, then the edges, slightly rounding them.

We paint the slats with stain first on one side, when dry, turn over and process the other side. Next, prime and let dry thoroughly. Make sure that the composition does not flood the holes made, if necessary, take a toothpick and clean them.

We grind the dried primed parts with abrasive No. 320 to remove smudges and the smallest flaws from the surface. Carefully remove the resulting dust from the slats. We cover the lamellas with varnish for 1 layer, after drying with abrasive No. 800 we knock down the pile, if it appears, and apply 2 more layers of varnish.

In the same way, we prepare the bars for the cornice and the bottom bar.

We collect homemade wooden blinds

We put the cornice on a flat surface, screw it according to the marks of the ring. Next, lay all the slats, trim. The canvas is completed by a bar-bar. We tie the cord on the left ring, process the edge with fire so that it does not fluff up and thread it into the left row of holes, and be sure to glue the PVA and insert a small sliver for strong fixation. When we put the cord into the lowest beam, we put on a plastic retainer at the end. According to this algorithm, we pass the cord on the right side.

We make the central cord 2.5 times longer than the height of the canvas. We thread it into the middle ring on the eaves, connect the edges and pull it up, so we find the middle, we do not tie the knot. We put one end into the central holes, do not glue it, we just start the other with reverse side canvases. We connect the ends from below and put on the retainer, it will be lifting mechanism. We check the operation of the blinds: pull up the end of the rear cord - the canvas is assembled, lower it - it opens.

We hang blinds

We apply ready-made blinds in place, we outline where we will mount the brackets. We drill holes, insert dowels if necessary and fasten the brackets to the self-tapping screws. We check the geometry with a level, if the holders are level, we attach the cornice to them.

Making a swivel mechanism

When the blinds hang, the slats will stand with an edge to the plane of the window, with the flat part parallel to the window sill. We take a decorative braid, throw it through the center of the canvas, one end should be located with front side, the other - from the wrong side. And carefully glue the braid to the edges of the lamella, you can fix it on tiny decorative carnations. We install the latch from below and the rotary mechanism is ready. Now you can not only lift or release the blinds, but also rotate the slats around their long axis.

The video below shows in detail how horizontal wooden blinds are made in production. To save money, you can purchase all the necessary components in the hardware store and assemble the blinds yourself.

A few words about vertical blinds

Vertical blinds made of wood can also be made by hand. The lamellas are made using the same technology. To hang them, you will need to purchase a special cornice and swivel sliders, as well as a chain to connect the lower edges of the slats into a single canvas.

In this article we will tell you how to make wooden blinds http://ojaluzi.ru/vid/derevyannye-zhalyuzi/ at home. By making wooden horizontal blinds, you will solve the problem of adjusting the light and designing the double-glazed window for a long time. As a rule, structures for blinds are made from thin log cabins of wood: cherry, beech, oak, yew.

Regardless of the type of wood, these blinds look elegant, natural, especially if they are also made of wood. Tree - natural material, environmentally friendly. Additional shine of the lamellas is obtained by applying varnish or paint, so they characteristically gleam in the sun.

The price category of wooden structures is relatively high compared to plastic or woven options, so we suggest you make your own wooden blinds. Let's take a closer look at each of the stages in the production of blinds.

Preparatory stage of independent work

For the construction of blinds, choose thin log cabins of wood so that the design does not look too bulky, natural or synthetic bamboo is also suitable. First, measure the window.

When measuring, use a metal ruler, as it measures the most accurately!

Measure the height of the window, then the width. To make a measurement for a horizontal structure, initially decide on the installation method. In order to install the structure, it is necessary to measure the length and width of the double-glazed window. When buying a model, add +1 cm to the length, and +5 to the width.

Measurement of wooden blinds to a double-glazed window involves the following actions:

1. We measure the width of the window opening in several places.
2. We make a mark in the widest place.
3. Add one centimeter to the width.
4. We measure the height.
5. Add four centimeters to the height.

To find out how many slats you need to cook, divide the sum of the height by eleven centimeters, the number that turned out corresponds to the right amount lamellas. The length of the lamellas should be four to five centimeters less than the width of the window if you are going to install the structure to the double-glazed window.

List of required tools:

Drills and drill;
scissors;
brackets and hooks;
aluminum tape;
clamps;
construction adhesive.

Immediately before installation, you still have to visit the construction market. Not all details for blinds can be made independently, so you need to purchase a swivel mechanism and a cornice in advance. As a rule, the components of the blinds are not expensive. Eaves, rollers, brackets, control thread lock and swivel mechanism are the main elements of the top.

Installation of nozzles on lamellas and installation of the structure

First, let's check the presence of all elements. Let's make holes for the regulating thread in the crossbar. Install the step cord. Then we take the straps, push the cord, connecting the step of the cord and fixing it in the control mechanism. Next, we fix the lower part with a latch, check the operation of the structure.

How to make wooden blinds video:

In order for the structure to hold tightly, the lamellas do not slip or deform, it is important to fix them correctly.

Drill a hole in the center of each nozzle, insert a hook into it. With the help of the last blinds will be attached to the base.
Drill a 2 mm hole at the top and bottom. Make sure that the holes are exactly in the center.
Connect the slats with aluminum tape, which will rotate the slats.
Pull the adjustment cord through the holes and secure it with construction tape.
Attach preparatory slats to the guide.
Attach two large hooks to the ceiling. Pass the cord through the hooks that previously connected the slats. Pull the cord down in a loop. This is necessary in order to easily change the position of the slats.

Important tips before creating wooden blinds with your own hands

All elements for the design you can buy separately at the hardware store. Such materials are pre-treated with special dust-repellent, antistatic agents. Therefore, it is easy to take care of the lamellae and clean them from dust. Due to the fact that wooden structures are heavier than woven or bamboo, buy additional brackets for installation.

Wooden blinds are one of the most attractive, natural types of blinds.

Option to install wooden blinds without drilling

Due to the fact that wooden slats are heavy, we believe that they should only be installed with a drill and brackets on the eaves. But wooden bamboo blinds are incredibly light, so this model can be installed on special L-shaped fasteners. Blinds, suggesting a method of installation without drilling, have a lot of advantages:

1. Traceless dismantling. When the time comes to remove, there will be no traces of screws and dowels on the surface of double-glazed windows or walls. You do not have to cover the areas with silicone to hide the installation marks. The depressurization of the window is not terrible.
2. The cornice, installed on the bracket or attached with mounting tape, will not sag or deform.
3. Installation is done independently. It doesn't offer a solution. challenging tasks, so you can easily cope without outside help and save personal funds.
4. Mounting tape and brackets are sold at affordable prices. You don't have to spend money on installation.

Visual instruction

As we have already said, there are several types of blinds that are attached to a double-glazed window without using a drill; for this, the following devices are used:

L-shaped brackets (they are attached to the active shutters of double-glazed windows).
Construction tape.
Special magnets.

There are two types of clips: metal and plastic.

Plastic clips are thrown onto active window sashes. A cornice of the structure is attached to them, then blinds are installed. The undeniable advantage of this type of fastening on plastic windows- as close as possible to the glass. They do not take up much space on the windowsill. Metal work on the same technology. True, they differ in production material. Heavy types are attached to metal brackets: aluminum, wooden, multiimpressive. Please note that clamps cannot be installed on closed sashes.

Topics related to the independent manufacture of furniture, as well as those dedicated to carpentry, arouse increased interest among users of our portal. The topic of this article will be a photo instruction for making rotary blinds from a portal user with a nickname QWEsad.

QWEsad Member of FORUMHOUSE

I have been thinking about making wooden blinds for a long time, and in the first place I put not the functionality, but the beauty of the blinds, which are part of the interior. Such designs are common in North America and can be purchased at any hardware store. In Russia, I have not seen similar wooden blinds, so I decided to make them myself.

Let's say right away that 3 years have passed from the idea to the realization of the dream in the "tree".

The lack of time and the user's busyness with other things affected. What happened in the end is shown in the next photo.

The result is more than impressive, so let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process of wooden blinds. In addition to drawings with detailed dimensions of the blinds that the user calculated on the Internet, materials (well-dried boards) and will be required. These are, first of all, special devices for drilling holes in workpieces.

As well as cutters for lamellas.

The user also purchased all of the above equipment on the Internet, although now, due to rising prices, the drilling jig would have made it on his own.

Repeated blinds can be: blind or with a swivel bar to change the angle of inclination in the center of the lamella or on the side, as well as with different lamella widths:

  • 32 mm.
  • 89 mm.
  • 63 mm.

It was on the last option that he stopped QWEsad, having decided to take as a basis the pine boards that are widespread in the "carpentry", and at the end of the work to tint the blinds in white. You can also use different types of wood in the color of the finish. It all depends on the imagination of the master and the availability of certain materials.

The first thing you need is well-dried wood. For the manufacture of lamellas with a thickness of 9.5 mm and a width of 63 mm, timber trimmings of 10x10 cm and 10x15 cm were used.

QWEsad

The wood has lain in the attic for several years and dried perfectly naturally. Humidity did not exceed 6-7%. I will also say that the lamellas, and these are 90 pieces, did not twist and did not lead over time, although there were knots on some blanks.

The bar was unleashed on circular saw(don't forget to leave a margin for further processing), and then the blanks were planed along the plane.

It was not possible to buy a ready-made swivel bar (due to the lack of a bar of the required size on sale: the user needed 56 inches, but they offered only 54 and 36 inches).

Make a turntable QWEsad decided from plywood, 4 mm thick. After planing, the lamellas were milled, trimmed to size and holes were drilled for attaching the swivel bar.

Despite the seeming simplicity of work, the main thing is to withstand same sizes on all preparations. In order to avoid mistakes, holes were drilled with the help of a jig and a simple home-made device.

QWEsad

Quality joinery takes time, but the end result is worth it. After drilling, I proceeded to the necessary but monotonous process of puttying and sanding the blanks to remove all minor defects.

Having made the lamellas, we begin to paint them. The paint was applied with a brush, in one layer. In parallel, the user made under the lamellas.

Because the search for a straight dry three-centimeter board could drag on indefinitely, they decided to make it on their own. To do this, the “inch” board was glued into a package (timber) and dissolved on a circular saw into blanks of the desired size.

After that, the user milled the edge of the shape required by the project.

How the blinds will function largely depends on the exact geometry of the frame.

Those. warps or mismatches in the dimensions of the sides must be avoided. The frame was assembled on a spike, such as DOMINO, for which a hand mill was used.

Although the blanks did not come out perfect at first (in places there were knots with cracks or fallen knots), the user found a way out. Defective places he filled epoxy resin, and under a layer of tinting, the repaired place looks like an ordinary knot.

A special tool was also used to tie the loops.

The work has come to an end: it remains only to cut out the turntable, and then assemble the blinds. We already wrote above that it was not possible to buy a ready-made swivel bar, but we decided to make it from plywood. To do this, you need a template / device with which you can make many exact semicircles of the same type. The process itself is as follows - the strips are assembled into a package, which moves inside the jig along the table of the drilling machine.

We try on and, making sure that everything is done as it should, we paint the slats.

It remains to assemble and install the blinds.

A blinds fence is a specific fence made of angled lamellas that looks like window structures. The absence of mechanisms for turning the slats greatly facilitates the construction of the fence. The types of such a fence and the technology of its installation will be discussed in this article.

Features of fences blinds

The construction of the fence consists of supporting pillars to which lamellas are fixed. Planks can be directed up or down. The latter option is preferable, it provides more privacy. The design differs from other fences in the way the boards are attached. There are several options for fixing: to flanges pre-fixed on the supports; boards are stuffed to the ends of the racks; the lamellas are assembled in sections, and then the individual parts are fixed to the posts.

The distance between the slats ranges from 16 to 20 mm. If the fence is installed in a busy place, it is recommended to remove the gaps altogether.

Fences blinds are divided into two types - metal and wooden. The first option has a longer service life, but is more expensive. Often hardware are sold section by section, with dimensions of 2 × 2 m or 1.5 × 2 m. Separate parts are made at the factory, it remains only to fix them to the poles. Metal blinds do not require special care. It is enough to periodically clean them from corrosion and restore the paintwork. Such fences are recommended to be installed in hot areas where there is a high risk of fires, which they are not afraid of.

Wooden fences blinds are delivered unassembled. They can be made to order of any configuration, according to pre-prepared sketches with dimensions. The result is a hedge that will meet the requirements of the owner. To increase the service life, it is necessary to carefully care for it: clean it from debris in time, paint it. Wooden structures fit into any environment. They go well with many materials.

  • If the site is located in a wetland or in an area where ground water located close to the surface. In such places, the soil needs constant ventilation. A blind fence can create a greenhouse effect, especially if the area is densely planted with trees or bushes. Fence shutters will provide constant ventilation of the site.
  • If the fenced area is located in the north-west of the site, as well as in the shade of the house. Shading from solid hedgerows can kill many crops. The venetian blind fence allows you to grow plants directly next to it, while in other cases it is necessary to retreat 2-3 m from the fence.
  • If there is a need to constantly monitor the street without showing your territory. For example, when a child plays on the street without adults.

Advantages and disadvantages of fences blinds

Users are attracted by such positive qualities of the fence:

  1. The design reliably protects the territory from prying eyes. Outside, the site is not visible due to the lamellas fixed at an angle. But from the inside you can see everything that is behind the fence.
  2. The ability to pass a sufficient amount of sunlight, which will ensure the growth and development of plants.
  3. High aesthetics of the fence. It will not spoil the surrounding landscape. The fence has an attractive appearance at both sides.
  4. Low cost allows you to install a fence to consumers with any income.
  5. The fence does not pass dust. Tilt planks hold it on their surface.
  6. It is very easy to take care of the product - just wash the lamellas with water from a hose.
  7. The ability to install the blinds fence yourself, without outside help.
  8. The fence provides fresh air to the site.

The fence has very few flaws. It does not completely close the territory from prying eyes and does not protect well from small rodents.

Blinds fence installation technology

The choice of materials for the fence blinds

The first thing to be decided upon self-manufacturing fences - what blanks will be used, wooden or metal. Let's take a look at each option.

When self-manufacturing planks for metal fence Venetian blinds will need sheet metal machines and other equipment to bend the installation parts. If necessary equipment no, you should develop drawings of all parts and order them in the workshops.

It is easier to make wooden blanks with your own hands. Before making a blinds fence, buy the following from materials:

  • Boards. Length - 2 m, width - 10-20 cm, thickness - 2 cm. Lumber must be dry. If you still bought freshly cut products, put them under a canopy for drying, shifting them with slats. Without such a procedure, the parts will dry out and deform, spoiling the appearance of the structure. Boards can be any - planed or not. In the latter case, it is allowed to use a slab or a shalevka. Irregularities of the material, numerous knots can turn the fence into an original structure.
  • Thin bars. You will need strips measuring 20 × 20 mm or 20 × 10 mm. With their help, the lamellas are fixed in an inclined position.
  • Support pillars. You can use concrete, asbestos cement, metal pipes or wooden blocks. The length of the pipes consists of above-ground and underground parts. Underground should be 1/3 of the entire height of the rack. With a post height of 2.7 m above the ground, it will be 2 m. In the case of using lumber, purchase beams 40 × 40 mm for a low fence and 80 × 80 mm for a high one. The ideal option will put a piece of pipe on the underground part of the column. Before concreting, the metal parts of the support must be coated with an anti-corrosion compound, the lower wooden parts of the beams must be impregnated from moisture.

Installation of fence posts

Fence posts can be fastened in two ways: with a strip foundation and in separate holes. The first option is recommended for use on heaving soils and in areas where water is close to the surface. The second is more common and requires less financial costs. Let us consider in more detail the fastening of supports in the ground.

If necessary, construction strip foundation do the following:

  1. Pull the cord along the perimeter of the fenced area and secure with pegs.
  2. Mark the positions of posts, gates, gates, etc. Supports are recommended to be placed every 2-2.5 m. If finished spans are attached to the poles, the distance should be such that sections with a small gap are located between them.
  3. Dig a trench along the cord with a depth that exceeds the level of soil freezing in the area by 30 cm. If the soil is normal, you can not dig a trench deeper than 50-60 cm.
  4. At the locations of the pillars, dig holes 1.5 m deep.
  5. Collect formwork from lumber waste in the pit. Usually the foundation of the blinds fence does not protrude above the ground, so the upper part is allowed not to be leveled.
  6. Pour gravel and sand into the bottom of the trench and tamp them down, periodically pouring water over the “pie”.
  7. In the formwork, mount the reinforcing belt in two rows from a rod with a diameter of 10 mm. Place one of them at the top of the formwork, the other at the bottom. If the pillars are planned to be made of brick, vertically weld the reinforcement in the marked places.
  8. Install the metal supports in the holes, set to a vertical position and temporarily secure. Weld the posts to the reinforcement.
  9. Fill the formwork and the pit with the racks with concrete mortar. For its preparation, use cement, sand and gravel in a ratio of 1:2:6. Perform further work after the concrete has hardened.

Mounting posts in individual holes is cheaper, but this method is only suitable for normal soils. Dig holes about 70 cm deep. Install supports in them, set them in a vertical position and fill with concrete. When the solution hardens, you can install the lamellas.

Production of sections for the fence

This method allows you to make individual sections in the workshop in comfortable conditions, and then bring the finished parts to the installation site. It is recommended to first install the supports into the ground, provide for the attachment points for the fragments and make sections according to the dimensions between the mortgages on the supports.

To create a louver fence section, follow these steps:

  • Make seats in which the lamellas will be installed. To do this, fill two wide boards on one side at an angle with 20 × 20 or 20 × 10 mm bars. The angle depends on the width of the side blanks. It should be such that between the bottom of the upper lamella and the top of the lower lamella there is a gap of maximum 1 mm, and a distance of 1 cm remains between the planks.
  • Boards to which thin strips are nailed should be a mirror image of each other.
  • Paint the wood pieces.
  • Nail a wide rail to the ends of the boards (on one side), which will not allow the boards to fall out on the other side. Before the operation, paint it, because. subsequently accessing it from inside will not be.
  • Treat the blanks with special compounds that protect the lumber from rotting, mold, various bugs and fire.
  • Place two boards on a flat surface with the padded sides facing inward.
  • Insert the slats into the grooves of the sidewalls.
  • Connect them together with rails so that the structure does not crumble.
  • Install limiting bars that will not allow the planks to fall out of the structure. It is allowed to fix the lamellas with self-tapping screws, screw them into the ends of the boards through the sidewalls.
  • Install the sections between the supports and secure in a premeditated way.

Fixing slats to poles

The methods of attaching individual boards to the supports depend, first of all, on the material of the column. In any case, they are inserted into pre-prepared grooves. The slats are installed from top to bottom, the latter is placed horizontally. Consider the most common installation methods that you can do yourself.

To a wooden beam of rectangular section, the planks are fixed in this way:

  1. To fix the lamellas, it is necessary to nail boards with planks fixed at an angle to the support. The order of their manufacture is the same as when assembling the sections for the blinds fence. In this case, the width of the sidewalls should be equal to the width of the beam.
  2. Make cuts in the support, the height of which is equal to the thickness of the lamellae. Insert the prepared boards into the grooves.
  3. Nail the bars to the wooden beams at an angle, across the entire width. The distance between them should be equal to the thickness of the lamellae. They will hold the elements of the fence.

When using a metal round post, you will need a round wooden beam, whose diameter is greater than the diameter of the pipe.

Prepare the seats in this way:

  • Cut the log lengthwise down the middle to make two symmetrical pieces.
  • Hollow out recesses in them half the diameter of the pillar.
  • Cut them into grooves at an angle for the boards.
  • Install both parts on the pipe and connect them with anchors. Thus the pipe will turn into wooden structure. It remains only to insert the lamellas into the prepared grooves.
  • If the lamellas are also metal, it is better to weld them to the supports.

TO concrete pillar fasten the bars with slots or strips under the lamellas with the help of anchors. You can also purchase special fasteners that allow you to fix the finished spans to concrete structures.

After creating the base surfaces, install the lamellas in the grooves cut out or created in another way and nail them or fix them with self-tapping screws.

Fence Care

To make the fence last for a long time, perform the following operations:

  1. Inspect the metal fins every few years for rust and chipping paint. If they are found, clean the problem areas, degrease, prime and paint.
  2. Cover small scratches with a special compound to avoid corrosion.
  3. If necessary, clean the fence with water from a hose.

For painting the fence it is allowed to use any means for wood. When choosing, pay attention to the condition of its application. In some cases, the surface should first be coated with protective agents, in others no pre-treatment is required, the mixture includes all necessary components. If the lamellas are made of high-quality processed wood, it makes sense to use products that provide both protection and a beautiful appearance. The easiest and cheapest way to cover is to use used engine oil.

The construction of the fence refers to simple work, it is quite possible to make all the elements and assemble the blinds fence with your own hands. Subject to the installation technology, stacked fences will not yield to other types of fences in terms of aesthetic characteristics and will decorate the site for many years.
