Sets of specialized witcher armor are the most powerful artifacts in the game. Getting them is not easy, but one way or another, Geralt will discover the corresponding blueprints scattered around the world.
Witcher School Equipment
The vanilla version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt contains three sets of such armor and weapons belonging to the following schools:
- Cat School Light armor that provides protection from elemental damage. It also increases the power of attacks. The base set requires level 17.
- Griffon School- medium armor, increase the power of signs. Basic set - level 11.
- Bear School- heavy armor, increase the speed of adrenaline gain. The base set requires level 20.
All schools provide additional protection from monster damage. For the schools of the Cat and the Bear, there are also drawings for making crossbows.
Sets of other Schools can be obtained by installing add-ons to the original version of the game.
For example, the Hearts of Stone DLC adds some equipment to the game Schools of the Serpent(requires level 40 to use). And a separate free add-on: Treasure Hunt: Items wolf schools» (Wolf School Gear), adds blueprints of the corresponding school to the game. Wolf equipment can be used from level 14.
Equipment can be found in the powerful Blood & Wine DLC Manticore schools, it requires level 40.
The armor of the "vanilla" schools and the School of the Wolf can be improved in stages, moving from ordinary to "improved", then to "excellent" and, finally, becoming "master". The Grandmaster level is added in the Blood and Wine DLC.
Each upgrade level requires an armorer/blacksmith of sufficient skill. Creating master armor will require finding true masters in their field. But first they will ask you to complete tasks.

Rare and unique equipment
The "weak point" of the equipment of the witcher schools, created according to the drawings, is that it is of a fixed level. The game contains common, rare, magic equipment and relics that can be found in chests or knocked out of opponents. The required level for these items may vary, and the characteristics of the artifacts will depend on this.
Here is an example of a Small Club with the required levels 28 and 20.

The game is designed in such a way that by the final events of the main quest you will be able to put on masterful armor and weapons from any witcher school (one of the Schools from the game without DLC), i.e. reach level 34.
After going through the whole game, I gained experience only up to level 35. But in the game you can find recipes for creating items designed for a much higher level of the character. Considering that experience is given mainly for completing quests, reaching the required level seems to be an impossible task.

I reached level 38-39 by completing the Hearts of Stone DLC. At the same time, level 45-46 seems completely unattainable without installing add-ons that allow you to complete new tasks.
As you know, for such a popular game as The Witcher 3, there are a lot of modifications, and unfortunately, not as many really high-quality and cool ones as we wanted. We selected 26 graphic modifications, some of them are trifling and small, others are large and complex, but each affects the graphics of the game and deserves your attention.
1. The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project
One of the best and largest modifications that changes the texture of most objects in the game: stones, rocks, thatched and tiled roofs of houses, books, moss, wooden and stone walls, metal bars and many other objects. Mandatory installation for everyone who decides to go through or replay the adventures of Geralt.
2. More Shadows
The mod adds even more shadows cast by various objects or people. The picture before and after is strikingly different, it looks much livelier.
3. The Butcher of Blaviken Lore-Friendly Geralt
The mod changes the appearance of Geralt, more consistent with the books, i.e. pale skin, truly white hair, for which he was nicknamed the "White Wolf", and bestial eyes with a vertical pupil.
4. Lore-friendly Silver Swords
The mod changes the standard silver swords, now they at least somehow differ in appearance from ordinary steel ones. A silvery sheen of steel, menacingly shining in the moonlight.
5. Next Gen Candles
The modification replaces standard candles with more natural ones, with melted tops, wax smudges and other things.
6. No Dirty Lens Effect
The modification removes traces of dirt and falling rays of the sun from the screen, the picture is cleaner and more pleasant.
7. Remove Screen Water Droplets Effect
The effect of the mod is the same as the previous one, only it removes traces of raindrops that look cheap and ugly.
8.Weather Enhanced
Mod changes the weather and makes it more diverse. On the road, you can be caught by a thunderstorm or storm, snow or sun. You never guess.
9. Increased Draw Distance
Modification changes the detail and distance of drawing objects. It will not be so striking when, for example, you look at the pier, and there is a platform without boards or a crane hanging without a hook.
10. Next Gen Novigrad Reloaded 2
The retexture of the pavement and paving stones in Novigrad is clearly better than the original, and we will be running around this city for a long time.
11. Super Turbo lighting Mod
Another of the best modifications, it changes the lighting system in the game, the picture will look a little brighter and lighter, while you can just admire the sunset or sunrise, everything is so gorgeous.
12. Atmospheric Nights
Now, when you go into the hut at night, you will see nothing there without a torch or “Cats”, the mod adds atmosphere to the game and at least some sense of the existence of the already mentioned torch and “Cats”.
13 WEATHER
As you can understand from the name of the mod, it changes the effects of the weather, rain and snow no longer look like oblique lines or some kind of dust, they now look much more beautiful and natural.
14. CLOUDS
Retexture of all clouds, including DLC. Better than the original and doesn't ask for much.
15. AQUA
Just best water. Very nice and the difference is noticeable.
16. SPLASH
Changes the effects of water splashes to better and more beautiful ones. It is better to put together with the previous mod.
17.Improved sign effects
After installing this modification, the use of signs Aard and Igni turns into a real parade of special effects.
18 Improved Particle Systems
One of the best visual mods for The Witcher 3, completely reworks the system of particles and effects: dust, fog, sparks, fire, all magic signs, smoke from the chimneys of houses, smoke from the pipes of smoking people and much more. The modification is quite demanding on the resources of your computer. If you install along with the previous mod, then get ready for a bright spectacle.
19. BLOOD
Improves and changes the behavior of blood, which covers everything around in more detail and color.
20. More Blood Mod
Even more blood! More!!! But be careful, the modification can glitch and you will see Geralt covered in blood almost all the time.
21. PEEPERS
The modification changes the quality of the eyes of most characters in the game, including the witcher himself. Geralt's eyes will become much angrier and livelier than before.
22.4k Clouds
Cloud textures in 4K quality. The clouds will really become smaller, but they will also look more natural.
23. The Wolf Medallion
Geralt's wolf medallion with an updated, higher quality texture and in three versions: without glowing eyes, glowing stripe or small dots.
24. Better Torches
New torch! Now with an updated texture, it can be used on horseback, in combat, or when climbing ledges.

26. COMPILATION
One of the best modifications for The Witcher 3 at the moment. Combined hodgepodge of many modifications, including some of the above. Required to install if you want to truly update the picture in your favorite game.
Installing mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Installing these modifications is quite simple, unlike the same GTA V. First you need to register on the nexusmods website. Next, you need to either use the nexusmods site modification installer, or download the archives with mods, create a mods folder in the game directory,
then copy the contents of the archives to the mods folder.
To do this, you need to go to my documents, find the folder with the name of our favorite game and create a text file in it called mods.settings.
Then set the desired priority, where 0 is the highest parameter. You can see how it's done in the screenshot.

The Witcher 3 is a great game that contains a subset of equally good mini-games. Gwent - card game, which Geralt plays throughout the story. Menu and travel

Geralt's default world has dozens of checkpoints for fast travel, but sometimes you have to cross several kilometers on a roach to get to the nearest one. If you are tired of such a routine, then this mod will allow you to teleport to any control point - something similar was in Skyrim. The main thing is not to abuse this feature, because teleporting too often leads to problems with several quests.
Of course, it's great that the map isn't filled with a bunch of icons like in some Ubisoft game, but sometimes you can regret it, especially if you can't remember where the healer is. This mod adds all possible icons to the map - from nearby merchants to quest points, information about which is taken from your quest log. If you think it's too much, you can always hide the icons you don't need.
A chest with your items can be found at several points on the map, but the creators of this mod asked themselves: “Why not add more chests?”. After installing the mod, 8 new points with chests will appear in the game, and 2 standard ones will be moved to more convenient places. This is quite handy, especially if you have a general realism mod installed, which takes into account the weight of the coins that Geralt keeps with him.
One of the best nuances of The Witcher is that every major contract needs to be thoroughly prepared at the beginning. We create oil from ghosts, stock up on moon dust, meditate and, of course, sharpen a silver sword.
In this fashion, meditation becomes a more meaningful process. During meditation, you spend experience points on leveling up skills, replenish stocks of alchemical items and oils, and also repair the necessary things. By default, you can't eat or drink during battle in this mod, so make sure you're fully prepared to face some noon.

Geralt already carries a lot of things in his bag, not counting the two heavy swords on his back, but if you are one of those who simply cannot get past the new sword from the witch hunter collection, then this mod is a must for you. So what will be the final weight limit? Yes, you guessed it. More than 9000. From now on, you won't have to worry about the fact that trophy weapons, which can be useful in very rare cases, take up too much space in your inventory. Just take it with you and do not bother your head with such trifles.
The game could be called the Wild Hunt, but hunting creatures and monsters is not the best way to make a living. If you are tired of killing a lot of deer and getting only some meat, this mod increases the chance that animals will leave behind a supply of meat or some ingredients.
It's a bit of a shame when you bring a lot of unwanted junk into the city to sell, and the local merchants are so poor that they can't afford to buy it all at once. This mod makes merchants more prosperous, so they are willing to pay more for each item. Unfortunately, the patch conflicts with version 1.31, but you have two choices: install unofficial patch or an unofficial version of the mod authored by another creator.
In the game, we travel either to find work or to have fun - it's quite difficult to combine both, isn't it? If your Geralt doesn't mind playing Gwent from time to time, but doesn't want to run around looking for new cards, The Gwent Dealer mod will save him a lot of effort. This mod turns Quartermaster Baron into a real card collector. Now you can buy not only ordinary things from him, but almost any card.
As with the Gwent Dealer, this mod transforms the humble tavern owner into one of the most prominent merchants in the game. Now the owner of Dandelion's tavern sells almost all potions, oils, bombs, runes, mutagens and arrows. Balance imbalance? Maybe. But it's damn convenient.
Ugly equipment. It's sad, but it can happen to even the best witchers, no matter how hard they try to look stylish. If the new sword you've been tinkering with for hours has a sheath that isn't the prettiest and doesn't fit in with your color scheme, then just download Black Scabbards to fix the problem. We think that black is perfect for everything, including scabbards.
On the one hand, this is a minor cosmetic change that does not affect gameplay in any way. On the other hand, this is perhaps the best of all created mods. If in a single-player RPG your biggest concern is appearance hero, then you should not pass by this mod. Geralt looks incredibly cool in his new robes. Moreover, there are keys to raise or lower the hood. But it already depends on your mood.
There are quite a few gear changing mods out there, but our favorite is the Sezon Burz. Based on the book Season of Thunderstorms by Andrzej Sapkowski, this set of equipment fits perfectly into the Witcher universe and at the same time looks surprisingly fresh. What's more, the new items are tiered, so you can level up your character and upgrade to a new set of gear.
Depending on your playstyle, some elements of the daily routine of a witcher can become unbearable - especially after a couple of hundred hours in the game. If you are tired of spending money and time on repairing equipment, then the Indestructible Items mod will come in handy, thanks to which weapons no longer wear out. Extremely useful little thing.

If you want to diversify the weather conditions in Novigrad and its surroundings, then this recently released mod will help you. It greatly improves the fog and rain animations, and adds a lot more snow to the Skellige Isles. At the same time, you can always turn off certain innovations using console commands, specified on the page with the description of the mod.
Want to capture some memorable shots of Geralt in action? This mod will allow you to stop time, then move the camera in three dimensions to take great pictures. The kingdoms of the North, especially Velen and Novigrad, are quite dirty places full of clay and dust, and therefore it is almost impossible to take decent screenshots in these areas. But now you can wipe down your game camera like a professional photographer. The No Dirty Lenses mod removes drops of water and dirt from the screen, however, when diving or during rain, these drops reappear.

Now Geralt constantly gets dirty during battles, his swords are always stained with fresh blood, and it naturally pours from demons in buckets. Are you ready for a bloody adventure?
If you have a powerful graphics card, why not make the most of its capabilities by increasing the draw distance? open world in The Witcher has an impressive scale, but it looks much more spectacular with a drawing several kilometers ahead. The mod has many settings where you can set a specific draw distance. But be careful - the performance of the game may drop if you set all the settings to maximum and send it to Novigrad (but this depends on the capabilities of your PC).
The mod falls into the same “will not work for everyone” category. More Shadows adds dynamic shadows to all lights in the game. Torches on the walls now cast shadows directly below them, and huge braziers in cities will be the source of all kinds of shadows on the cobbled streets. Guards walking around with torches will also get dynamic shadows. And if you have display problems, then there is an alternative version of the mod that removes some shadows.

Mods that completely change the game

More recently, we wrote about this mod: this is a complete rethinking of the combat system of The Witcher. The main innovation is the removal of auto-aim. Now Geralt no longer jumps from one enemy to another like a pinball, but only hits where you point him. This means that you can prepare a strike and quickly go behind the enemy's back or break through his shield.
It's a big change, but it's far from the only one in TW3EE. It also adds new animations, new ways to parry, and new ways to set up attacks from a distance. If you've been through New Game+ a few times and seen everything The Witcher 3 has to offer, then this improved version is the perfect excuse to re-install the game. It is advised to put the mod on a "clean" version of the game, after which you can safely install additional modifications.
Ghost Mode is no less ambitious than the Enhanced Edition, but the changes are more subtle. He does not abandon the basics of the original, but only polishes all the little things that required editing. For example, expensive plates can no longer be found on the shelves of the poor, all ingredients have a weight (but you need fewer ingredients for alchemy), and simple equipment has become more powerful and useful. Typos in item descriptions have also been fixed, enemies have received new armor bonuses and stamina limits, etc.
If you think that The Witcher 3 needs a complete overhaul of all systems, then the Enhanced Edition is waiting for you. If you think that the game just needs to be polished and balanced (which modders have been doing for two years), then feel free to install Ghost Mode.
And, of course, put the mod on the "clean" version of the game, and only after that add the rest of the mods to taste.

What will change after installing the modification?
In fact, a lot will change. First of all, let's be honest, most of the usual armor in The Witcher 3 is unremarkable retextures stretched over the same source. Against the background of the second part, where each armor can be called unique, they seem ... disappointing, or what? The author of the modification replaced more than 30 copies of the witcher's outfit: 20 armor, four pairs of gloves, five pairs of pants and six pairs of boots were "added" to the game. Moreover, all substitutes are fully compatible with New Game+ and do not affect the appearance of non-playable characters. File modTW2Gear is the main one and is directly responsible for changing the appearance of the armor. File modTW2Gear_Icons not required for installation, but it changes the icons of items in the inventory and helps to better navigate the equipment.
How to install the modification? Possible problems
The contents of the archive must be moved to the MODS folder located in the root folder of the game. For owners of a licensed steam version of the game, it is on the way disk/Steam Library/steamapps/common/The Witcher 3. If you have never installed modifications before, you will have to create this folder yourself. The modification is friendly to any files that change the appearance of witcher armor and the balance of ordinary armor, but I think it is obvious that installing or having other mods that affect the design of simple equipment is not welcome. Due to the author's inability to work out the interaction of Geralt's hair with armor, the witcher's long patches "fall through" into the textures of some specimens, but this is not fatal, believe me.
