A few days later, the master arrived and confirmed that the warranty case and we were ordered a new heat exchanger (as they said, more reinforced). After 1.5 weeks, they themselves called, the master arrived in the evening and replaced the heat exchanger with a new one.

The electronics of the GWH11EN13 and GWH265 are powered in series through safety thermostats from two LR20 round batteries with a total voltage of 3 V.

When any of the temperature sensors is triggered, the supply voltage is removed from the electronics, the column turns off. Automation works on the speed of water flow through a differential pressure switch.

Flame control is carried out electronically by the ionization current. When the hot water tap is opened, the water unit opens the mechanical gas valve and turns on the microswitch.

If the ignition of the burner has occurred, current begins to flow from the flame control plug to the body through the burner.

The column begins regular work. Performance gas burner regulated by a valve (handle). There is no progressive ignition when the column is turned on. AEG GWH11EN13 has one electronic unit and monitors only the presence of a burner flame. When the flame goes out, the gas supply is cut off. GWH265NanoPlus and GWH10Fonte have two units: an ignition unit and a display. The display includes an indication of the outlet water temperature, burner ignition and the state of the batteries. The electronic unit of the GWH 265 column is not involved in the temperature control mechanism. The display is only a means of indication. The water temperature is adjusted using the gas and water quantity adjustment knob. When the water pressure changes, the outlet water temperature will change and accordingly on the display. The display and the ignition unit work in an interactive mode and if one of them fails, the column will not turn on. Emergency modes are also monitored, followed by the indication of error codes:

The security system is multilevel. The presence of a flame is constantly monitored by an ionization electrode. Smoke exhaust control is carried out indirectly by the temperature of the traction chopper (if the draft is weak, the thermostat will work at 105 degrees, the column will turn off and a restart is possible after the traction chopper cools down).

AEG GWH11EN13 has a thermostat (85 degrees) for controlling the outlet water temperature (when the water temperature drops, the column will turn off and it can be turned on again after the heat exchanger has cooled).

For Electrolux GWH265NanoPlus and Zanussi GWH10Fonte, temperature overshoot is controlled by electronics (if it exceeds 88 degrees, a shutdown will occur, followed by an error indication).

GWH11EN13 has a resettable thermostat to protect against overheating of the heat exchanger (turns off the column when the heat exchanger overheats 130 degrees, restart is possible after manual reset).

There is a protective hydraulic valve on the water unit (it will protect the device from overpressure in case of accidental vaporization or water hammer. The response pressure is 12-15 bar). To protect against freezing, the water must be drained by unscrewing the safety valve.

In case of breakage or unsatisfactory operation of the speaker, first of all, it is necessary to replace the batteries (only alkaline ones must be used). The most frequent malfunctions:

  • No ignition or repeated extinguishing after ignition. This breakdown is eliminated by replacing the candles or the electronic unit.
  • Extinguishing of the column after some time of operation. As a rule, it is caused by blockage of the heat exchanger with soot, calcium deposits or burnout. Lack of contact in the thermostat circuit.
  • Complete lack of ignition. The reason may be low water pressure. Please note that the pressure switch is differential! If the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet is insignificant, then the column will not turn on. Another reason is a blockage in the water node or damage to the membrane.
  • All this can be controlled by moving the rocker arm of the microswitch. There may be a breakdown of the microswitch and water ingress onto the microswitch from the stuffing box of the pressure switch rod.

    You can check it manually by turning on the microswitch. The breakdown is eliminated by bulkheading the water unit or by completely replacing the gas-water unit. As spare parts, the gas and water unit is supplied complete with or without a solenoid valve. There were also burnouts or breaks in the solenoid valve.

    In the absence of ignition, there were problems with the electronic unit or clogged filters at the inlet.

  • Claps when turning on the column. This may be due to discharged batteries, low gas pressure, clogged heat exchanger. At Electrolux GWH 265, several cases of souring in the open state of the mechanical gas valve, which must be opened by the pusher of the pressure switch, have been identified. The gas remained blocked only by the solenoid valve. When the microswitch is pressed, the burner is ignited without water supply, and when the water is turned on, a strong pop occurs.
  • Violations of tightness. Both heat exchangers and water units are leaking. At the water unit, it drips along the pusher rod. AEG GWH11EN13 had fistulas in the right semi-body of the water unit.
