Bat from 10 rubles. Commemorative coin medallion

What interesting and original key chains you will not see on the keys to an apartment or a car in our time! The smart Chinese and our folk craftsmen applied their ingenuity and skillful hands here too. Here is another interesting development of a keychain made of a 10 ruble coin for your consideration, its middle rotates, such a craft looks attractive and surprises those who see it in your hands. For some, this idea can become a source of income. It is only necessary to improve the technology for making key chains from coins in order to put production on stream.

So what needed for this product. Bimetal coin, soldering iron, soldering acid and tin, axis wire, hammer, drill with a thin drill.

On the edge of a ten-ruble coin there are two stars that will become a guide for the axis on which the entire structure will rest. We make a simple pattern on paper that will repeat round shape coins. We will make marks on the template at the locations of the stars. We mark a line on the coin along the axis, which is marked on the template. Using a mini-drill and a thin drill (the author indicates its diameter is 0.8 mm), we make holes in the coin on both sides so that the hole passes through the outer rims and enters a little into the core (to a depth sufficient to hold the axis).

At the same stage, you can immediately grind the coin. You can use the same mini-drill and GOI paste (by the way, from the word GOI - State Optical Institute).

Next, you need to knock out the core of the coin. We put a cylindrical object under the coin with a diameter larger than the core of the coin. From above, as a punch, you can use any object that is round in shape, which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the core. For example, as in the video, you can take a small bearing for this. In order not to damage the surface of the coin, you need to put a lining between the punch and the coin. With a hammer blow, we knock out the core and get two blanks for the movable connection.

Now you need to grind off the edges of the core a little with a needle file or file to ensure its free movement inside the rim. It is a little worth grinding off the inner edge of the rim.

Now we need a soldering iron, tin, phosphoric acid and a hard wire that fits the diameter of the hole in the coin. We make standard soldering by tucking the wires into the hole in the core of the coin. You don't have to use a soldering iron good glue it will also be good to keep the wire axle in the hole if you make it to a sufficient depth, increasing the contact surface of the parts.

We insert the core with one finished axis into the rim. Now you need to solder the second axis into the opposite hole on the rim and solder it. Naturally, the axis should end up in the hole in the core.

Different people perceive keychains differently. For some it's decoration, for others it's adaptation for storing keys, for others - a beautiful souvenir that you can add to your own collection or give to friends and relatives. In this material, we will consider a method for making a keychain from a 10 ruble coin.

We present to your attention a video on making a keychain

What we need:
- 10 ruble coin;
- mini drill;
- paper;
- pen;
- water;
- bearing;
- double sided tape;
- hammer;
- file;
- soldering iron;
- soldering acid.

Since our keychain will consist of two parts, the inner of which will spin, we need to drill through hole. And for this you need to measure two points strictly in the center. On the sides of the coin there are two stars, which are located exactly in the center. You can drill these stars, but since they are on the axis, the keychain will not look so beautiful, however, these same stars can help you find the center and mark it on the coin. To do this, we need to put a coin on paper and make a simple template. Circle the coin with a pen.

We find stars and make marks on paper.

After that, we take a mini drill and make holes. You should be extremely careful so that the hole runs strictly in the center and is straight. The author also advises using water in the drilling process, which will help to do the job faster and better.

Also, during the drilling process, it is important to turn the coin over from time to time to avoid possible bumps and crooked lines.

When the hole is drilled, check whether it turned out even. If everything is fine, you can proceed to the second stage.

If desired, you can immediately polish the coin with GOI paste.

Now we need to knock out the core. To do this, take something larger in diameter of the core. It can be some kind of cover or a piece of thin pipe.

We will knock out the bearing. We glue a thick double-sided tape with one side on the bearing, and with the other side we glue it on the coin. Here you also need to be careful that the bearing is glued strictly in the middle.

Now we need to remove all the bumps and sharpen the edges of the core so that it spins freely in the frame. You can do this with a file.

You also need to process the frame.

For the next step, we need a soldering iron, soldering acid and a hard wire to match the diameter of the hole on the coin. First, we treat the hole with acid. For this you can use a needle.

Now we take the wire, heat the surface of the coin and insert the wire into the hole.

To make a medallion, we need a commemorative coin, consisting of a white central part and a yellow edge. Making a coin medallion is very simple. The first thing to do when making a medallion is to grind off the relief planes of the coin on both sides. To grind the relief, we will use coarse sandpaper. Lay the sandpaper on a flat surface and start grinding. You can also use a whetstone to grind the sides of the coin. Once you have roughened the sides of the coin, start finishing with finer grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth and even surface.

Now we need to choose a pattern for the medallion. For example, let's do the simplest drawing - an ordinary heart. Take a needle and draw a heart outline on the surface of the coin. Now mark the points of contact that will cling to the main clip. At further processing, try not to touch these three corners of the heart. Next, we need to knock out the middle of the coin. To do this, from a wooden stick, make a bat with a diameter slightly smaller than the yellow ring of the coin. Clamp the coin firmly in a vise. Attach a bat and hit with a hammer. The middle part should pop out easily. Do not hit too hard, so that the outer ring of the coin does not “lead”. However, if it bends, it can always be straightened on an anvil. Now we have two parts. Yellow ring and white circle.

Next, with needle files, we begin to cut out a heart from the white circle of the former coin, holding it in a vise. The edges of the heart can also be removed using a whetstone. After you carve a heart, it must be combined with a ring. Place them on the anvil and gently tap with a hammer. Both parts must be firmly aligned. That is why we marked the points of contact of the corners of the heart and did not touch them at .

The next step in creating a medallion from a coin is its final. Take fine-grained sandpaper and start working with your hands, achieving a smooth sheen of the medallion. It will take a long time to grind, trying to make its surface a mirror. After you have sanded well, you need to carefully goya paste it. Everything, our coin medallion is ready. It remains to rinse it in gasoline or acetone, and attach a chain to it.

From the middle part of the coin, you can cut out many different images: from animal figures to the initial letters of the name. So go beyond the example shown here and come up with something new and different.
