Use a tape measure to measure the height and width of the doorway. If the gap between the ends of the doorway is less than 20-25 mm, then in this case we have to work to expand the doorway. In rare cases, it is necessary to perform work to reduce the doorway, this is mainly due to the fact that the work on dismantling the old front door was not carried out accurately. It may also be due to the fact that when this door was installed, too wide gaps between the doorway and the door frame were filled with a cement-sand mixture, and during the dismantling work, this layer of the DSP was sprinkled.
When reducing the doorway, the principle of action is clear - in wooden house boards or bars must be fixed to the ends of the doorway, in brick house or in an apartment, you can reduce the doorway by performing additional masonry, for example, from silicate brick. Brick is used if the reduction in the doorway provides for a distance of more than 30 mm on each side.
If, to reduce the width of the doorway, the distance does not exceed 20-25 mm on each side, then in this case a layer of DSP with a reinforcing mesh can be applied to the ends of the doorway, which will also allow you to align the ends of the doorway.
When expanding the doorway, it is necessary to do the work carefully in order to achieve the most even ends and, most importantly, not to get a gap between the door frame and the ends of the opening more than the recommended dimensions, so that in the future you do not have to do additional work to reduce the doorway. To obtain a high-quality result when expanding the doorway, it is necessary to use special tools and fulfill a number of requirements that are provided for during this work.
So, for example, to expand the doorway in a wooden house, you can use a chainsaw. First, we draw a marking line from one edge of the doorway, as shown in photo (A). Next, using a chainsaw, along the marked marking line, we trim the end of the doorway along the entire length, as shown in the photo (A or B).
If it is not possible to cut along the entire height of the opening, then you can make cuts at a distance of about 20-30 mm from each other, as shown in photo (B) and use a chisel (axe) to remove parts of the tree between cuts. In this case, cuts can be made with a simple wood saw without using a chainsaw.
Note:If you expand the doorway in a wooden house by making cuts, then it is desirable that the cuts have the same depth.
When expanding the doorway using a chainsaw, it is important to follow safety measures so as not to get injured:
- Use only a sharpened chain, and also follow the chain tension rules recommended in the technical data sheet, these two requirements must be met so that the chain does not jam during operation and that it does not fly off the chainsaw bar.
- It is necessary to work in protective glasses so that sawdust and small pieces of wood do not damage the eyes.

Interior doors, as a rule, are much cheaper than entrance doors, but to update the interior or completely change the design, you cannot do without replacing them. They are most often changed in a complex way, even if we are talking about a small one-two-room apartment.

Since the question arose of replacing interior doors, the choice between types of structures will be inevitable. The right interior door can save space in the apartment, if you prefer not simple single-leaf swing doors, but sliding ones, you can also consider installing an accordion door.
The most simple design without glass for interior doors is made of typesetting canvas. Most often, the canvas is made from coniferous wood and almost all economy class doors are lined with wood-felt boards. Fiberboard can be either profiled or simple, depending on price category. The cheapest doors have a textured surface for painting, while the more expensive models will already be veneered.
Depending on the price category of the door, it can be equipped with a door frame, hinges and fittings. But most often, even in standard apartments of panel houses, it takes a long time to adjust the door to the box, since the nominal dimensions were not always respected, which is why before you start installing the door, you need to prepare an opening.
Preparing the room for installation
The floor should already be laid out in the room, and the walls should be prepared for finishing, they should be plastered or plastered. The door frame must be installed after all wet Finishing work, otherwise it can lead, warp, especially in the lower part, which can cause unnecessary problems.
The door frame can be sold together with the door leaf, or separately. In the case when the box is purchased separately, it is very important to pay attention to the thickness door leaf and the state of the racks from which the box will be assembled. Curvature and cracks are not allowed, and the presence of knots on the elements of the door frame is also undesirable.
Good hinges and necessary tool
You can not ignore the loops. Despite the fact that the hinges on the interior doors do not carry much load, it is better to choose detachable and more expensive models. Saving on hinges will add further trouble, and if the door is relatively heavy, then it is better to install not two, but three hinges. As a rule, those self-tapping screws that are sold complete with hinges are no good. They are disposable and made of poor quality steel. It is better to immediately replace them with proven good self-tapping screws of a suitable configuration.
To install interior doors with your own hands, you will need a minimum set of tools:
- construction level;
- drill or screwdriver;
- tape measure, ruler, square, marker;
- mounting construction foam;
- a set of chisels or an electric tool that replaces them;
- miter saw or miter box with hand saw on wood;
- planer or cutter.
Installation door block begins with marking the racks of the box. The inner size of the box under the door should be 3-4 mm more sizes the door itself, and the distance from the lower edge of the door to the floor must be at least 10 mm. The rack is marked out, after which it is sawn off at an angle of 45 degrees with a miter saw and hand saw on wood. The assembly scheme is shown in the figure - self-tapping screws or wooden pins are used for assembly. The upper bar of the door frame is also cut off according to the same principle - from the side of the lock and from the side of the hinges, the gaps should be 4-5 mm each.
It is more convenient to embed the hinges and the lock when the box and the door are still in hand, so first you need to measure 20 cm from the top and 21 from the bottom along the edge of the door and along the inside of the rack on which the hinges will be attached. The hinge is attached to two self-tapping screws temporarily for door frame, after which it is circled along the contour with a pencil. The loop can be removed and using a chisel to make a recess in the rack. The depth should be such that the loop is completely hidden in thickness.
It remains only to assemble the door frame and fix it in the doorway. As a rule, interior doors are reinforced with mounting foam, but for reliability it is advisable to fix the box with large self-tapping screws or anchors to the wall. The box is set strictly according to the level and fixed temporarily with pieces of drywall, foam, boards, after which the free space is filled with foam.
Self-tapping screws for fixing the box to the wall are best placed on the platforms for hinges and on the platform for fixing the lock. So the screws will not be visible, and three points are enough for a solid fastening. You can hang the door and foam the space between the box and the wall. After checking the operability of the structure, the box is closed with platbands, which can be attached to glue or thin nails.
