To believe in God means to have a living confidence in His being, properties and actions and to accept with all our hearts His frank word about the salvation of the human race. The words under Pontius Pilate indicate the time when He was crucified. Pontius Pilate is the Roman ruler of Judea, which was conquered by the Romans. The Holy Spirit is called the Lord because he, like the Son of God, is the true God. The Church is one, because there is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all of us (Eph. 4:4-6).
