DIY plywood snowflake. Plywood crafts - New Year: necessary materials and tools, features of making two-dimensional and three-dimensional structures How to paint a snowflake made of wood

    We will need:
  1. plywood is enough big size to make a snowflake
  2. snowflake template (click to download snowflake stencil)
  3. electric garland, you can use a garland powered by batteries or from the mains
  4. drill and drills

First of all, you need to apply a snowflake stencil to the plywood. You can use whichever you like or take the one we offer you. We printed a stencil in a printing house on a sheet of A2 paper, cut out a snowflake, put it on plywood and circled it.

Next, we cut out a snowflake from plywood using a jigsaw, the process is laborious and requires care and accuracy. You can use both manual and electric jigsaw. Follow the safety regulations.

After the snowflake is completely cut out, you can use fine sandpaper to process the rough edges.

in those places where there will be garland bulbs, we make holes with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the garland bulbs. Light bulbs can be placed like us, in the center of the snowflake rays or around the perimeter.

Now it's time for painting. We paint the snowflake in any color you like. We chose white.

It's time to fasten the garland. Disconnect the light bulbs, thread the garland cartridge into the hole made at the back, and insert the light bulb into it from the front. Since the holes are smaller in diameter than the light bulbs, they will hold on and not fall out.

Fasten the mode switch or other heavy items with reverse side with tape.

If you have leftover plywood, then you can use it as a material for the manufacture of various New Year's crafts. To do this, you do not need to have sophisticated equipment at hand and have skills in woodworking, everything is quite simple and even for those who do not have experience in such work.

We will talk about some of the product options, and you can implement any of your own options, based on the tips for conducting the workflow.

Required materials and tools

In order to make this or that product, you will need the following list of materials and fixtures:

Plywood When choosing, consider the features of the manufactured crafts: for small items and products complex shape it is better to use sheets of small thickness; for more massive structures, material of greater thickness is needed - from 10 mm or more.

In addition, the location should also be taken into account, for options installed on the street, it is necessary to use moisture-resistant plywood, for internal works suitable for the normal version

Cutting tool Again, the choice depends on the thickness of the sheets being processed, if and is suitable for thin options, then for thick plywood it is better to use either an electric jigsaw or a special hacksaw for curly cutting with small teeth
Required sketches If you are good at drawing, you can make all the drawings on paper and yourself, but you can also use ready-made options. You can find many solutions on the Internet: whole compositions of New Year's characters, and drawings of plywood snowflakes.

You just need to choose the option that you like the most and that you can implement

Paints It is almost impossible to make interesting and bright crafts without decorating them, so take care of the paints in advance. If for interior work any will do option, then for outdoor structures weather-resistant compositions are needed, which should withstand adverse weather conditions well

Advice!
If you find a drawing that is smaller than you need, don't worry, scale it up to the desired size and print it in this form, all ratios will be preserved, and the details will fit perfectly together.

As for the manufacture of various crafts, there are two options - two-dimensional or three-dimensional designs. We will consider each of the types separately, since the process has some differences.

2D products

If you are doing the work yourself, then you should adhere to the following recommendations:

  • First of all, you need to purchase the right material, for the street it is best to use plywood glued with bakelite resin or use laminated sheets that are well protected from moisture;

  • Next, you need to make a sketch of the product on a scale of 1: 1, so you need to transfer the drawing to a large sheet. If you need a big Santa Claus made of plywood, it is problematic to do it yourself, but modern copying equipment increases the scale to the required one automatically in compliance with all proportions;

  • The pattern is transferred to plywood either using carbon paper or simply glued if the product is large, and cutting is carried out directly on the paper. Naturally, in the first case, the sketch can be used several times, and in the second, only once;
  • Cutting is done along the line, it is important not to allow significant deviations, as this will negatively affect the final result of the work.. Next, you need to process the ends with sandpaper: remove the scuffs and pile, round the edges and make the surface as even as possible;

Advice!
To make the material less cracked when cutting, the surface is impregnated with a mixture of wood glue and water in a ratio of 1: 2.

  • The last stage is painting, it is better to apply a primer first, and then paint the product. Pay special attention to the ends, they absorb moisture best and need special protection from adverse effects.

3D designs

We will tell you how to make a sled out of plywood with your own hands. Children will appreciate this type of products, as they can be used in winter.

The workflow looks like this:

  • First of all, you need to find or independently make a drawing of a plywood sled, as an example, we will show one simple option;

  • You also need to cut out the seat, for it it is best to take material 10-12 mm thick, its dimensions are shown in the diagram below. Cut-outs on the sides and front allow you to hold on to the seat and tie a rope, while the handle on the back is great if you need to roll small children around;

  • When cutting, the closest attention should be paid to the connecting grooves and. The elements are assembled using self-tapping screws 35-40 mm long, under which holes with a diameter of 2 mm are pre-drilled;

For a tight fit, guide the file near the lines that define deep, unshaded cuts. If they get too narrow, they can be widened with a file.

Make a marking template and cut out the cutouts in the second layer

Instead of cutting the cutouts along the lines of the paper template, circle the template made from the cut plywood with a marking knife to achieve a tight connection of the parts.

When cutting cutouts in the second layer, the file should not touch the marking lines. If necessary, the width of the cutouts can be adjusted later.

THERE ARE CUTOUTS AND IN THE HALVES

After dividing the third layer into two halves, mark and cut the cutouts on the straight edges, again leaving a small allowance for fitting.

DRILL A SMALL HOLE

With a thin drill, make a hole 6 mm deep in one of the inner corners where all three layers intersect. Don't be upset if the drill goes right through, because no one will notice.

Greetings, my dear readers.

The most creative contest!

What do we have to do:

  • draw or make your own uSnowflake from any material (the U logo on the snowflake is welcome!);

  • No nominations - only prizes!

    • 5 gift certificates for the amount of 5000 rubles of the OZON online store

    • 15 exclusive secret souvenir gifts;

    • 5 lifetime premium packages;

To my great joy, I finally moved from Yukoz to WordPress, but I decided to leave the article anyway - maybe someone will be interested :)

How to make a snowflake out of wood with your own hands

In order to do something - be it a snowflake or, you need to decide on the end result finished product. That is, you need to be clear about what you want. And to do this, you need a drawing, or at least a sketch (sketch).

Plywood snowflake - drawing

This is of course very approximate, but I already have something to build on.

I take a piece of plywood and draw a small circle on it - I plan to place the logo in it.

Then we draw an outer circle - these will be the edges of the future snowflake, and divide it into six equal parts.

And after some time I received a finished drawing of a snowflake made of wood

How to make a snowflake out of wood with your own hands?

So, the drawing is ready. Hands on my feet, I take a jigsaw and start “cutting”, and to be precise, sawing ...

And once...

And two...

And here's what happened...

I sawed out a snowflake from a tree and now it needs to be sanded a little to remove the “burrs”

Let's move on to the next step...

How to paint a snowflake made of wood?

Long decided on the color and decided that I would paint in blue. Having used up almost a year's supply of children's paint, it turned out like this.

At first I thought that I would paint only the main part, but after a little “braining” I decided that I needed to paint over the side part too in order to exclude “bald spots”

Well, now, I did all the above operations, waiting for the main layer to dry, I started drawing patterns. The artist from me is "awful", so it turned out like this snowflake

I screwed up a little with the main logo, but after a little witchcraft it turned out very well! (If you don't praise yourself, no one will.)

So, friends, with a little rubbing, I made a snowflake out of wood with my own hands and no plagiarism!

P.S.

Friends, to my regret, I did not become one of the first three winners, but I received a consolation prize - 3 months of a premium package from Ucoz, although at that time I already clearly realized that it was time to switch to WordPress :)

Good luck to everyone, and it remains for me to remind you that a true connoisseur of handwriting, Alexander Alexandrov, was in touch with you.

Snowflakes are one of the most beautiful symbols of winter and New Year holidays. They are made from various materials using most of the known techniques: cut, fold, embroider, sew, knit, weave, mold. They decorate the interior, clothes, accessories, textiles, covers, notebooks, postcards. "Snow motifs" can be found in jewelry, souvenirs, toys, pillows, panels, carpets and much more.

Everyone knows how to cut openwork snowflakes from paper. And today we will tell you what other ways to make snowflakes exist. Choose your favorite option, prepare materials and create Christmas decorations with the whole family!

paper snowflakes

When cutting paper snowflakes, you can use ready-made ideas from the Internet or come up with your own design. Remember that the thinner the paper, the more airy the snowflakes will be.

Snowflakes origami

Origami snowflakes are not as openwork and graceful as those cut out of paper, but they are strong and voluminous. To create such snowflakes, you will need special knowledge and ingenuity! And how to learn to understand the scheme, you can read in our article "Origami".

Snowflakes in quilling technique

Snowflakes using the quilling technique are glued together from pre-prepared parts - strips of paper twisted into tubes and flattened between the fingers different ways. Quilling requires accuracy and a good eye, but the result is very impressive. In our article "Easter Egg Decor: Master Class" we have already talked about this type of needlework.

Snowflakes made of cardboard or plywood

Snowflakes, necessary for creating voluminous decorations or toys, are best made from plywood or cardboard, then they will be strong and tough. Using a ruler and pencil, mark the outline or circle ready template, then cut or saw out - and the snowflake is ready! You can also make snowflakes from wooden sticks from ice cream or school rulers. Such blanks can be painted, painted with patterns or decorated using decoupage technique.

Snowflakes from felt

A felt snowflake will become a good Christmas toy, an original brooch, a bag pendant, a needle holder or a hot stand - it all depends on the technique, your imagination and, of course, the thickness of the felt. Thick and dense felt is an excellent material for flat snowflakes, which can be simply cut out according to a template, and it is convenient to sew voluminous snowflakes from thin felt. You can decorate felt products with embroidery, rhinestones, sequins, beads and seed beads.

Snowflakes from threads

In the manufacture of such snowflakes, a base (wooden plank, cardboard or polystyrene) and pins (nails or pins) are used, between which the thread is pulled tightly. If the thread is pre-moistened with glue, you can get a hard snowflake: just wait until it dries and then remove the pins.

Snowflakes from beads and beads

From beads and beads do not only Christmas decorations or other New Year decorations, but also earrings, pendants, pendants, key rings. To create such a snowflake, you will need beads and / or beads, as well as fishing line, wire or thick thread, a snowflake pattern that is easy to find on the Internet, and a little perseverance.

Knitted snowflakes

If you know how to crochet and have ever knitted doilies, it will not be difficult for you to knit a snowflake, because similar patterns are used for them. To give stiffness to knitted snowflakes, they should be starched.

Snowflakes from polymer clay

Polymer clay is a material with a wide range of possibilities, it can be used to make very beautiful snowflakes, for example, using the filigree technique or extruder technique. When making, you can be guided by our master class "DIY Jewelry for Valentine's Day", just change the shape of the product and color.

Glue snowflakes

This is a fairly simple way to make snowflakes, which will require a glass surface and special glue (clear, colored or glitter). Draw a snowflake on the glass with glue, you can first place a template under it. When the snowflake dries, you can leave it on the glass - if, for example, you decorated the window - or carefully remove it and hang it on a thread.

In the comments, we are waiting for your ideas for making snowflakes. Happy New Year!
