How to make an underwater lamp out of an ordinary lamp. Homemade flashlight for spearfishing

not so cheap. And besides, I like to make something useful with my own hands - it's very cool. Especially if it turned out good and useful thing, which serves faithfully.

I'll tell you about an easy-to-make underwater lamp with a built-in battery for powering. This lantern has the ability to float on its own with the holder up and at the same time shine down, illuminating your ascent from the depth.

In order to make this flashlight, you will spend quite a bit of money (about 600 rubles) on a battery, housing, halogen lamp and wires.

At first, I take an uninterrupted battery from a technical store. In my case, this is Sven 12V, 7 Ah, dimensions 90x65x150. The manufacturer is not important, we are only interested in dimensions.

For the case, I use a pipe coupling purchased in a plumbing store with a diameter of 110mm, a length of 150 (standard). Our battery is tightly included here. In the same place I take a plastic plug for the same pipes and an adapter from 110 to 50 mm.

Since the length of the battery and the coupling is almost the same, I am improving it a little to accommodate the plug, as well as the adapter.

A halogen spotlight (showcase light) with a diameter of 50 mm fits perfectly into the adapter tube - it immediately serves as protection to enhance the direction of the light flux.

For the holder I used an ordinary wooden door handle (this is desirable). The wooden handle gives the much-needed positive buoyancy that helps our flashlight float freely, illuminating the bottom. The handle gives it stability and at the same time helps to shine down at the angle we need.

Our spearfishing flashlight sinks a little, and in order to eliminate this, having made the right balance, we glue a 2.5 cm thick foam circle on the plug (I picked up the size empirically).

Next, I glued the parts of the lantern silicone sealant and smeared the outside of the crack along the lamp. I bend the lantern handle in order to create a small angle.
Now it is convenient to hold it, the handle is in a strictly horizontal position and the lantern at the same time “looks” a little down. This does not allow the observer to “detect” me from the shore + it is convenient to work with (I emerge along the beam of a lantern). I attached the handle with electrical tape (you can think of it differently).

I didn’t get smart when I came up with a switching system, but I simply bridge the two wires that come out of the case with a wire for charging the battery.

The weight of a small invention is almost not felt under water, so the hand does not get tired during many hours of hunting.

In the end, it turned out very not bad homemade flashlight for spearfishing, although the switching system will still need to be finalized. =)

Good luck with your underwater voyages!

Today we will learn how to make a homemade flashlight for spearfishing. Main trend underwater lights in that they are equipped with batteries.

According to statistics, the most popular flashlights for spearfishing today are two types of flashlights, these are the MagicShine and Ferei 152 flashlights. The flashlights are made of metal and have several glow modes (100% light, 50% light, 25% and strobe mode).

Lantern for spearfishing differs in the type of filter . Many lanterns are sold with cold light (white - more suitable for the seas and oceans, for water with greater transparency) and warm light (yellow - suitable for rivers, muddy water).

There is a flashlight for spearfishing and with a red glow. When buying a flashlight, pay attention to the glow halo, it can be denser or have a central point of light.

A home-made flashlight for spearfishing is recommended to be done after a thorough study of its features.
Lanterns vary in size from small to large. Small flashlights have a compartment for one battery, so they will shine very weakly (about 2 times less), they are well suited for a gun with an offset handle. Various filters are used to change the color of the light.

Flashlights are usually divided into two types: for beginners and professionals (high power). The difference between these types in the number of diodes. Flashlights with one diode do not exceed 1000 in power. A professional spearfishing flashlight has several diodes (for example, 3).

Homemade flashlight for spearfishing can be amateur, so how to create with my own hands professional is very difficult.
You can increase the amount of work in the average mode (2.5 hours) using several batteries connected together (two blocks of two batteries are connected by wires in parallel). The sum of four batteries is about 14 amps. This device must be kept under close supervision at all times.

A conventional (native) battery, due to the fact that the controller limits the discharge and maximum charge to full capacity, loses 5 percent of the full charge. At the stage of assembling 4 batteries with a controller, 10% of the full charge will be lost if the controller is not removed. Subsequently, the battery is fully charged. In terms of time, it takes twice as much as a charge of a conventional battery (because we have not two, but four batteries). The operation of such a battery will be at least 6 and no more than 8 hours (after about the 5th charge cycle, you can determine the exact time).

Because the resulting battery will not completely fit into the flashlight, you need to measure the size from the cover (from the pressure valve) to a specially machined insert (removable addition). You can make a homemade flashlight for spearfishing, but for this you need to know the features and nuances of its work.

So, what you need to remember when choosing a flashlight:

  • It should be as waterproof as possible;
  • Eat less energy long duration work);
  • Look at the power of the light (should be high);
  • durable, robust construction protecting against breakage and cracks;
  • The kit must include reliable batteries;
  • Ease of use and firm hold.

All lights are attached differently. For example, there are flashlights that are fixed on the arm, on the belt, and under the barrel. When choosing, check the cord on which the flashlight will be held. If you have a question about attaching a lantern to, here is one way to do it.

What you need:

Styrofoam;
;
sandpaper of different grain sizes;
mandrel rod;
paint can.

The first thing to do will be a foam blank. From the previously prepared piece, cut out a rectangle 55 mm thick, 70 mm high, 550 mm long.
On our resulting part, draw semicircles on both sides (where the thickness was measured).

Next, wrap the rod in sandpaper max. stiffness and three on both sides of the foam approaching our marks. We give the shape you need with the help of a second sandpaper (try on a gun). We paint the resulting float with short sprays from a distance of 50 mm. Attach a lantern. Ready! Have a good hunting.

Homemade flashlight for spearfishing video

As an underwater flashlight, it can come in handy in the most unexpected places, become a professional tool. If you need to see something in the water while working, then a regular flashlight will not help you in any way. This invention does not require a lot of time to create and some high costs for materials.

In our video, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the phased creation of such a flashlight.

To create an underwater flashlight, we will need the following:
- old marker;
- double wire;
- 2 small batteries;
- push button switch;
- bright LED;
- medical glove;
- foil;
- soldering iron;
- tweezers;
- glue gun.

Having prepared everything you need, let's get to work.

First of all, we need to remove all content from the marker. Remove the covers from both sides. Using tweezers, we pull out the “rod” of the marker and the writing head. We are left with an empty container.

We solder an LED to one end of both wires (it is best to use white), and a switch to the second end of one of the wires.

Soldering points are well sealed with a glue gun.

The remaining tip of the wire is carefully wrapped with foil. In this case, this wire should be only a third of the entire length of the wire.

We insert the resulting design into the empty housing from the marker, carefully bringing out the LED, which should be mounted in the narrow part of the marker housing.

We try on two small batteries, inserting them into the case. We insert so that the wire wrapped in foil becomes a conductive contact. We take out.

In the “back” cover of the marker, we make a square hole into which the switch button will be inserted.

Now we need to seal the switch itself. To do this, cut off one finger from a medical glove prepared in advance and put it on the switch itself.

One contact of the switch must be soldered to the wire that leads to the diode, and the second is wrapped in foil. To make it more convenient to wrap the second contact with foil, we build it up with a small piece of wire.

After that, insert the switch into the hole from the marker cover. We fix it in it.

We insert the batteries, securing them together with adhesive tape. We close the lid. We check the convenience of pressing the switch button. Our flashlight is ready.

Despite the large assortment of goods presented in stores, choosing a good underwater flashlight is not so simple. Yes, and we still have craftsmen who can make a lantern for spearfishing with their own hands.

What are we going to do

We will produce a powerful underwater flashlight with a built-in battery for powering. It will not consume much energy, and the total cost of its manufacture will be small. You will need:

  • battery. An uninterruptible Sven 12V, 7 Ah battery with dimensions 90 × 65 × 90 is well suited for these purposes. Its full charge lasts for seven hours at maximum power without interruption;
  • frame. For the case, you need to buy a pipe coupling with a diameter of 110 mm and a standard length in a plumbing store. You also need a plastic plug for pipes and an adapter 110 to 50 mm;
  • halogen lamp;
  • wires;
  • wooden door handle.

Manufacturing process

Place the battery into the pipe coupling, that is, into the body for the flashlight, it fits tightly there. The length of the coupling and the battery is almost the same, improve a little and put a plug and an adapter into the case.

For the adapter tube, a halogen spotlight with a diameter of 50 mm will ideally fit, it will be an excellent protection for enhancing the direction of the light flux.

As a handle, we take an ordinary wooden door handle, thanks to the handle, a home-made underwater lantern will float freely and illuminate the bottom. Glue a foam circle 2.5 cm thick onto the plug, this is necessary so that the lantern does not sink.

Then we glue all parts of the lantern with silicone sealant, cover the gaps along the lamp with sealant too. To create a small angle, bend the lantern handle, you can attach it with electrical tape or come up with something else. For the switching system, you need to bridge the two wires coming out of the case with the wire to charge the battery.

The end result is a pretty good flashlight for spearfishing. The weight of this original invention is practically imperceptible under water, and therefore the hand will not get tired during long spearfishing. The flashlight has an excellent property to swim independently with the handle up and at the same time it shines down, illuminating the pond from the depth.

It is very important for an underwater hunter to choose the right equipment: after all, it depends on how safe and comfortable his stay in the aquatic environment will be.

A flashlight is a very important thing to have with you while diving in the water column. Without a properly selected high-quality flashlight, a hunter can waste all efforts on equipment for hunting underwater.

In order to be able to hunt in muddy waters, at night, in dense algae, or at depths greater than a few meters, a hunter needs a good flashlight (two are better for safety reasons).

Therefore, the choice of an underwater lantern must be taken with all responsibility.

There are several types of flashlights for hunting under water, which, when choosing, can make not only a beginner think, but also an experienced hunter, when moving to a new body of water or when an old flashlight breaks down.

These devices are of the following types:

  • rechargeable;
  • on non-rechargeable batteries (they will last longer than rechargeable batteries, but the light will dim as they are discharged);
  • LED;
  • xenon;
  • halogen.

How to choose a flashlight for spearfishing in troubled waters?

The lanterns that are used during spearfishing are subject to increased requirements, because under water, they, in fact, are the eyes of the hunter.

Therefore, when choosing this device, it is important to consider the following characteristics:

  1. Waterproof. This is the most important parameter of the flashlight. Leading manufacturers of flashlights make products, guided by the American standard IPX 8 (provides water resistance of the device when submerged up to 30 meters).
  2. Rugged construction which will be under pressure under high pressure conditions. The case must be made of metal (expensive products) or impact-resistant plastic (cheaper products).
  3. Ergonomics.

    The flashlight should not be bulky and heavy, and thus hamper the swimmer's movements, because hunting under water is important reaction and mobility. The device should have a streamlined shape, comfortable control, lie harmoniously in the hand and not slip out of the wet glove.

    There are both monoblock flashlights - this is a familiar cylinder or a box with a handle for holding, and separate ones - there will only be a searchlight in the hand, and a bag with batteries attached to the hunter's belt. There are also lights attached to a speargun or swimmer's mask that are popular.

  4. Reliable fastening. An inconveniently fixed lantern can become a significant hindrance during an underwater fight with fish. Therefore, it is important that the flashlight can be attached to the swimmer's underwater equipment and has a safety strap to the swimmer's hand. One of the best mounts is a crab mechanism.
  5. Power capacity and type of light emitters, which are installed on the lantern, are obliged to provide long time work without charging or changing batteries.
  6. The power of the luminous flux of the lantern, which is selected individually for each hunter and his chosen style of hunting. But do not underestimate low-power flashlights. In clear weather, such lanterns are suitable for additional illumination for a long time. A spare lamp may also have a small power.
  7. Availability of various modes of operation. The lantern must be capable of both continuous operation and pulse action. A plus is the presence of a radiation power regulator. The control elements of the flashlight are also important, their design should exclude spontaneous switching on and off.
  8. Quality optics. The branded lights have a regulator that allows you to change the lighting sector. Also a great plus is the ability to change the filter depending on the situation under water.

Rechargeable dive light

In terms of popularity, the rechargeable flashlight is far superior to its battery-powered competitor. After all, modern batteries have a good capacity and power, which allows you to use the flashlight for a long time.

Good batteries, cadmium or nickel, have excellent performance and a large number of charge and discharge cycles.

But such lamps also have disadvantages:

  1. These flashlights must be fully discharged before being recharged. If this is not done, then its energy intensity will decrease after each such recharging. The only exception is the lithium battery. This is the most modern battery that has great power and high price.
  2. With a long stay away from civilization, there may be no source for charging such flashlights. An adapter for connecting the flashlight to the car's electrical network through the cigarette lighter socket will help solve this problem.

LED flashlight

Due to the rare use of halogen lights due to their high energy consumption and short life, the main competition among underwater lights in terms of their light emission is between LED and xenon lights.

The operation of an LED flashlight is not associated with the release of such an amount of heat as that of halogen or xenon counterparts. Therefore, these lanterns are not so capricious and have a high service life compared to other types.

LED flashlights are most often of low or medium power. The power of the luminous flux of such lamps can exceed the power of a conventional incandescent lamp, and at the same time, the lamp will consume much less electricity.

xenon dive light

When hunters need a powerful source of light for night hunting or for hunting in murky waters, they use Xenon flashlights for spearfishing.

These devices give a directed and strong beam of light rays with a power of 50-100 W and more.

Xenon lights also have a low power consumption, which allows you to stay under water for a long time, but in terms of their durability they are much inferior to LED ones.

Thanks to a more powerful directional beam of light, the flashlight will help you not only find prey, but also blind some types of fish, which makes them immobile and makes it easier to aim.

Xenon flashlights are convenient when hunting in pairs or groups of people: it will help to determine the location of a partner in troubled waters or during night hunting, which is very important. Such a flashlight also provides safety by allowing you to see what could cause harm.

Many hunters consider the price of such lights too high, and try to make them on their own.

The best flashlight for troubled waters

Of course, it is impossible to specifically say which flashlight is the best when hunting in troubled waters. Xenon flashlights have certain advantages, but they are not suitable for all styles of spearfishing.

Most often, the lantern is selected individually, perhaps empirically.

A high-quality flashlight is a rather expensive device, and when buying, you need to take into account your capabilities and needs.

You should not buy very cheap lanterns from unknown companies - they will not last long and may contribute to the fact that your vacation will be ruined.

  • Mares;
  • Omer;
  • light
  • Technisub;
  • INTOVA.

DIY underwater lamp

Despite the fact that the shops present a wide range of spearfishing flashlights, there have always been enough craftsmen who want to make it with their own hands.

There are two options for creating an underwater lantern:

  1. Take an ordinary lantern and create a shell for it, impervious to water, or self-sealing its body.
  2. Build a lantern from scratch. This will require: a case (often use plumbing plastic pipes with a diameter of 110 mm), a battery, a light source (a reflector with LEDs, a xenon or halogen lamp), wires for connecting the lamp to the battery and devices for conveniently holding a homemade flashlight.

Based on the characteristics, features and requirements described above, it is possible to identify specific individual requirements for the characteristics of a flashlight for spearfishing in troubled waters.

After studying specific models and relying on your own preferences, you need to carefully choose exactly the flashlight that will satisfy all the requirements and wishes, and also provide not only the pleasure of the process of spearfishing, but also a reward in the form of a catch.
