Make figures from polyurethane foam. Crafts and figures from polyurethane foam

Of course, everyone who often spends time in the garden wants to decorate and diversify the space around them. The easiest way to purchase professionally made animal figures in the store. However, you have to pay for them, and it is difficult to overcome the desire to compose something unusual with your own hands. Very interesting option- make your own craft polyurethane foam for garden.

Foam crafts: what is good and what is bad?

Foam is a special material. From it you can make figurines of any size. The job does not require significant physical activity and subject to women's hands. When working with the material, it is easy to remove excess or add missing details, correct errors. A well-made craft looks professional and does not show signs of reuse, such as crafts made from tires or plastic bottles. The foam craft is not afraid of rain and snow, but it will have to be protected from exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation.

It is convenient to make a variety of figures from foam

There is another side of the coin. First of all, it should be understood that three-dimensional figures are made from foam, which are not easy to copy without having a sense of proportion. It is even more difficult to create something new, having only a flat picture in front of you.

If you have not yet appreciated the abilities of a sculptor and do not have experience with building foam, it is better to start with a simpler craft and create a bun, mushroom or ladybug.

Material freezes in air long time, so be patient while waiting for the next layer to be ready. It will take a week to build a large craft. The foam gets very dirty, and work is best done with gloves, in a special place and in the open air.

The most interesting and characteristic foam figures

Of course, first of all, you need to "get acquainted with the assortment." By carefully studying the samples of existing creations, we can conditionally divide all crafts into two groups. Some have a smooth surface, others have an almost unfinished surface.

The surface of these figurines is carefully processed

Using the alignment of the dried foam, you can make a figure of any animal and many other crafts. In this version, your work is well protected from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. At the same time, a lot of time and materials are required.

The fox and the wolf have a “natural fur coat” made of foam

Of particular interest is the imitation of animal hair using raw foam. This type of texture is difficult to make from any other material. With careful execution, animals literally come to life. In this embodiment, you do not need to spend a lot of time leveling the surface.

uneven surface foam suits these characters well

The manufacture of inanimate objects from polyurethane foam is less popular, with the exception of imitation mushrooms. However, as follows from the photo below, using construction foam you can make a flowerpot, a garden lantern and a flower pot different types.

All items are made of polyurethane foam

According to this scheme, you can build any craft

Almost any craft from polyurethane foam for the yard and garden can be built according to general rules. Below is a set of basic tools. Note that regular cans with a straw or pistol foam can be used. It is much more convenient to work with a pistol. When making a complex figure or a large number of products, it is better to purchase a gun.

The material is of different quality, and cans provide different volumes of foam, which is directly related to the price of the can. The materials will also require paint, varnish and putty for outdoor use. For the manufacture of the frame, a variety of auxiliary materials are suitable: plastic bottles, wire, pieces of wood, and so on.

In the manufacture of almost any foam figure, a frame will be required. The more the shape of the frame corresponds to the type of future crafts, the better the end result will be. It is convenient to use adhesive tape to mount the frame. Separate parts of the frame can be added to the structure sequentially, as the next layer is applied. In addition to the above material, a roll of paper, fabric or foam rubber wrapped with tape can be used for the frame.

Foam craft weighs very little. To prevent the wind from knocking it down, sand can be poured into plastic bottles. To attach the figurine to the ground, you can also provide thick wires that will protrude from the legs of the animals.

Frames from different materials correspond in shape to future crafts

Before starting work, be sure to read the instructions for use of the foam available on the can. It is highly recommended to purchase a foam cleaner to quickly solve "dirty" problems. Work should be carried out at a positive temperature in the open air, or in a well-ventilated area. Use gloves. When working, it is convenient to use a bedding made of polyethylene film, to which the foam does not stick.

In the can, the foam is in the form of a liquid. The material hardens on contact with air. Shake the bottle before use. During operation, the can is kept cap down. If this is not done, all the gas will come out and some of the material will not be usable. The foam gains sufficient strength within one hour. Completely the material hardens approximately 10 hours.

Polyurethane foam: regular and pistol

You should not try to apply a large amount of material at once, as the foam will fall off. It is better to apply a layer of foam on horizontal surfaces, let it harden for half an hour, and then turn the workpiece so that when applying the next layer, the foam again lies horizontally.

If possible, evenly apply foam to the frame, taking into account the shape of the future craft. To get a good result, it is useful to read the contents of the article.

After the material has hardened, you can add foam to those places where it is not enough in accordance with the outlines of the craft. Excessively protruding parts should be cut off with a sharp knife that will not tear the material. Smooth surfaces can be provided with emery cloth wrapped around the bar.

A layer of putty for outdoor use will improve the protection of the craft from solar radiation and provide additional leveling. Now you can paint the craft.

Please note that paint can damage the surface of insufficiently cured foam!

It is recommended to use exterior paints and paint in two coats. Easy to work with acrylic paints. For additional protection, the figure is varnished, preferably “yacht”. Please note that varnish will give yellowness to white paint. The finished craft can be further decorated various elements decor: buttons, glass, cord and other products of rich imagination. Pay attention to the fungus, which is made of polyurethane foam,

Do not limit your imagination when decorating

Master class: making a curly lamb together

The foam lamb seemed to me the most suitable for the first experience with the material:

  • the figurine is relatively uncomplicated, but not small in size;
  • lamb curls are very similar to frozen foam;
  • I can decorate my DIY with a new element and make lamb's hooves out of small brown plastic bottles.

The sequence of actions of the master class coincides with the sequence of photos:

Concluding the description, I want to add that the process of making a garden figure for a summer residence with your own hands turned out to be very exciting. I wish you the same results! Maybe the video will help you.

A summer cottage, a favorite garden is not only a usable area for various plantings and buildings. Here the owners can fully embody their creative ideas. Some will ennoble the site with an original fence, others will install bright and funny garden figures. Available material for creating crafts - polyurethane foam. This familiar sealant can be found in every household.

Preparation, tool and rules of work

Foam does not require much physical effort. Crafts are easy to correct - cut off the excess, add the missing volume. At the same time, there are certain requirements for working with this material.

The figures are made in the open air (but should not be operated in sub-zero weather). Ready product not afraid of temperature changes, moisture, but it is better to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Clear varnish will create additional protection from weather conditions. Furniture varnish is more often used, but ship varnish is also used.

It is more convenient to take mounting foam for winter work- it holds its shape better during the manufacture of crafts, and is also more suitable for outdoor conditions.

Polyurethane foam for winter conditions will hold its shape better

The material gets dirty, so you should take care of gloves (2-3 pairs) and work clothes, as well as a film or other protection for the site.

The foam is sticky, which means a solvent is useful for cleaning hands and surfaces.

The sealant is applied in layers, allowing each layer to dry well (minimum 15 minutes). On average, the time for complete drying is 10–12 hours (figure big size take up to a week). After drying, you can process the product - cut, primer, paint. For "sculpting" you need sharp knife(stationery is suitable), and for the manufacture of the frame - wire, plastic bottles, old unnecessary utensils (pots, etc.), nails, fishing line, etc.

To decorate the craft and protect it from external weather conditions, you will need putty and acrylic paint. If the product will stand on the street, then the paint must be appropriate for the external conditions of use. A layer of putty will even out the surface of the figure. For work, take care of a suitable brush, rags, sandpaper for grinding, a spray bottle with water.

Making figurines from polyurethane foam

To work with complex shapes, certain skills are needed, so it’s better to start with simple spherical or oval figures (bun, mushroom, decorative boulder).

Decorative boulders can not only decorate the site, but also cover unsightly household details.

Kolobok

For manufacturing you will need:

  • Styrofoam;
  • cement mortar;
  • paints;
  • plaster putty;
  • mounting foam;
  • knife or cutter.

So let's get started:

  1. It is possible to create a ball with only sealant, but it is more economical to use something round for the base, such as a plastic ball. It is covered with foam, and when it dries, a muzzle is cut out, handles are made from foam plastic and inserted with a wire.

    The ball becomes like a kolobok - a muzzle and pens appear

  2. The bow is also cut out of foam.

    A foam bow will decorate the top of the bun

  3. The handles and the bow are covered with foam, and the legs are made from it.

    The similarity of the legs is created by the volume of foam

  4. After the sealant dries, the craft is puttied, the muzzle is corrected, then covered cement mortar and finally form the smile of the kolobok. Apply a layer of putty again.

    After puttying, we rub with cement mortar and putty again

  5. Now the figurine needs to be painted. It is important to wait until it is completely dry, otherwise the paint will not adhere well.

    Gingerbread man becomes bright

  6. To make the craft shine and preserve the brightness of the color better, cover the bun with varnish.

    Here is such a funny and bright character turned out

foam mushrooms

It is just as easy to make foam mushrooms. Homemade mushrooms will enliven the site, give mood. You can install one figure, or you can “plant” a whole mushroom meadow.

Mushroom glade pleases the eye of both hosts and guests

Borovik

For manufacturing you will need:

  • plastic bottles and a cardboard box (frames for the legs and caps of the mushroom);
  • wallpaper glue;
  • putty;
  • acrylic paint and primer.

Having mastered simple forms, you can take on tasks more difficult and interesting. There are many examples - from decorative flowerpots and realistic animal figurines to fairy-tale characters. Everyone will choose a sample to their taste, or you can try to create something unique.

Processing and decorating foam figures

Crafts from polyurethane foam are not only painted, but also covered with various decors.

Decorated balloons

The base for the ball can be made in the same way as the kolobok - apply sealant to the plastic ball. In this case, the craft will have its own texture, which will only be emphasized. Shells glued on top, beautiful river pebbles, etc. will work well.

Another option is to use an inflatable balloon that is filled with foam from the inside. This solution will achieve a smooth outer surface. Glue the finished glass decor - and the craft will turn out spectacular and even glamorous.

The smooth surface and exquisite decor make the ball especially elegant.

Such balls laid out on a flower bed, lawn or at the entrance to the house look very attractive. Another option is to put them on a raised platform like in the video below.

Foam animal figures

Animal figurines can be processed to create a smooth surface, or vice versa to emphasize the texture to convey the fluffiness of the animal's skin.

When painting the craft, try to use different shades, make smooth color transitions to achieve a natural effect.

Additionally apply various materials- branches, wire, stones.

Spend money on ready-made garden figures to decorate the site is not necessary at all. original crafts from polyurethane foam will become a worthy element landscape design. The main thing is to show imagination and a little perseverance.

Polyurethane foam properties

The scope of application of polyurethane foam is quite extensive. Now it has spread to the landscape design of the site. Do-it-yourself garden figures made from polyurethane foam are no worse than specimens made on an industrial scale, and often surpass crafts made from tires or plastic containers in terms of decorativeness.

The special properties of mounting foam allow you to create crafts complex shape. Ease in processing does creative occupation available to weak female or children's hands. In the process of forming a garden figure with your own hands, removing an extra fragment or adding a missing detail is not difficult. With proper decoration, the craft looks very presentable and does not show signs of recycled raw materials, as is the case with plastic containers.

Attention! Garden figurines made of polyurethane foam are resistant to precipitation, but require UV protection.

An obstacle to creating crafts with a complex configuration may be a lack of experience with three-dimensional figures. Creating something new from scratch, focusing only on a flat image, is a problem for some. Therefore, it is initially recommended to practice on simple garden figures. A mushroom, turtle or ladybug will be a great start for the manifestation of the sculptor's abilities.

Depending on the amount of mounting foam involved in the manufacture of crafts, it may take a long time for it to dry completely. The process usually takes a week. You should be prepared that the mounting foam in the process of forming a garden figure can pollute the surrounding area, so it is recommended to organize work in an open area.

Colorful examples of do-it-yourself polyurethane foam figures are shown in the photo:

improvised materials

The list of improvised materials varies depending on the garden figure chosen for the manufacture, but the unchanged set consists of the following items:

  • Mounting foam. It is better to replace an ordinary spray can with a tube with a gun, which is much more convenient to work with.
  • Stationery knife for trimming excess elements.
  • Latex gloves to protect hands. Fabric products will quickly become unusable.
  • Sandpaper for sanding the surface.
  • Brush with paints intended for outdoor use.

To create a frame, crafts usually use plastic containers and cans, hard wire, boards, hoses and double-sided tape. If the foam gets on the skin during operation, a special cleaner or kerosene will help get rid of contaminants.

Advice! The garden figure, made using polyurethane foam, has a low weight, therefore, at the formation stage, measures are taken to make it heavier. Plastic containers can be partially filled with sand or small pebbles. A wire protruding from the paws of animals will help fix the craft on the ground.

General algorithm

Preliminary acquaintance with the instructions for the use of mounting foam will reduce the likelihood of undesirable situations. Crafts should be done outdoors at positive temperatures. If work is carried out indoors, it is worth taking care of high-quality ventilation. The polyethylene film will prevent surface contamination, the polyurethane foam does not stick to it.

Shake the can before use, keep the cap down during use. Otherwise, the gas will come out, and the material will not be completely used up. The initial strength of the mounting foam is gaining within an hour, and finally dries out in 10 hours. It all depends on the applied layer.

It is not recommended to apply a large amount of material in one approach, the liquid substance can fall off. It is optimal to build work on the formation of a garden figure as follows:

  • arrange the frame of the craft horizontally;
  • apply a small layer of mounting foam;
  • give the material time to dry;
  • turn the craft over and repeat the steps.

When the foam dries up again, the voids and missing fragments are filled in accordance with the selected outlines of the garden figure. Excess fragments are removed with a sharp clerical knife. To achieve a smooth surface of the craft, it is sanded with sandpaper fixed on a bar.

Advice! Putty is able to protect the garden figure from rapid destruction under the influence of sunlight. This technique will provide additional leveling of the surface.

After the composition has completely solidified, they proceed to the stage of decoration. Usually it consists in painting the figure from polyurethane foam. Acrylic-based paints are best suited for work, which are applied in 2 layers. Buttons, cords, wire for a mustache, pieces of glass to create a mosaic act as an additional decor tool.

Characteristic crafts from polyurethane foam for the garden

Studying a wide range of garden objects made using polyurethane foam, we can conditionally distinguish two groups of crafts. In one case, the surface of the figures is even, in the other - bumpy and often imitate the skin of an animal.

Leveled areas are often additionally covered with putty. It creates protective layer from UV rays. With rough garden figures, this technique is not practiced.

It is unlikely that it will be possible to achieve the identity of the animal skin immediately after applying the mounting foam; this will require additional manipulations. But the result of hard work is always impressive. The only exception may be a lamb, whose curls are so similar to a bumpy surface obtained from a liquid building substance. Vivid examples of do-it-yourself polyurethane foam crafts show photos:

Representatives of the animal world - the most popular solution for the formation of garden figures. Less commonly, objects of inanimate origin are created - all kinds of flowerpots, shoes and other items, mainly intended as decorative flower stands.

simple crafts

If there is no experience in creating crafts at all or it is not enough, it is better to start the experiment with a light garden figure, for example, a mushroom, the basis of which is a plastic bottle. To the materials at hand listed earlier, you will need to add a primer and you can begin to be creative.

Main stages:

  • A plastic bottle, which acts as a leg, is filled with sand or pebbles to give the mushroom stability.
  • Mounting foam is distributed in a thin layer, the process takes place in several stages. A thickening is formed in the lower part.
  • The hat of garden crafts is cut out of foam. It is not worth striving for a perfect circle, slight asymmetry is quite acceptable.
  • From the mounting foam applied to the foam, you should try to form a cone-shaped figure or a hemisphere.
  • A strong wire is used to connect the two parts of the garden figure. Gluing the parts will help to strengthen the fixation.
  • Trimming unnecessary protruding parts is carried out carefully so as not to damage the assembled craft.

Comment! The porosity of the mounting foam is the reason for the absorption of moisture, so it is recommended to treat the garden figure with a primer.

The absence of a primer layer will lead to the absorption of moisture from the mounting foam by the putty, this process will cause cracking of the surface of the craft. After priming, the garden figure is covered with a layer of putty and left to dry. To make the mushroom smooth, the surface of the garden figure is treated with sandpaper, first with medium grain, then fine. To reduce paint consumption, the puttied surface also needs to be coated with a primer. The color of the craft is chosen at your discretion, whether it will be cute porcini or a bright fly agaric, depends on the wishes of the master. Lacquer is able to give the figure additional shine.

Large figures

When simple DIY polyurethane foam figures turn out well enough, the task of creating garden crafts can be complicated and move on to larger objects.

Donkey

To form a popular landscape design element, you will need:

  • Water tank with a volume of 10 liters, it will serve as the body of a garden figure.
  • A tin can or eggplant for 5 liters will play the role of a muzzle.
  • Wooden planks for legs.
  • Bead or wire will become the basis of the tail of the garden figure.
  • The usual set of tools used in the design of crafts from polyurethane foam.

When everything is prepared, start the creative process:

  • First, two containers are connected to each other; wire or adhesive tape will cope with the task.
  • A glue gun will help to fix the legs on the body of the garden figure.
  • A tail is inserted into a pre-prepared hole.
  • The eggplant is filled with sand to give the craft weight and stability.
  • When the frame of the garden figure is fully prepared, it is gradually covered with mounting foam. Between applying the next layer, take a break of 15-20 minutes.
  • The ears of a garden figure will turn out perfectly from a flexible wire, which, after fixing, is also covered with mounting foam.
  • After drying, unnecessary protruding fragments are cut off with a sharp knife.
  • The application of further layers is identical to the mushroom creation algorithm. First, the craft is primed, then the surface is treated with putty, then cleaned with sandpaper, again primed and painted. The final layer will be a waterproof varnish.

Naturally, between each action, the polyurethane foam crafts are given time to dry the next applied layer.

Symbol of family happiness - stork

The stork looks incredibly cute on the site, the manufacture of which will also require polyurethane foam. The algorithm of actions includes the following steps:

  • A plastic 5-liter container serves as the body of a garden figure.
  • The head of the stork will be on the side of the bottom, the tail will be in place of the neck.
  • The thick wire will serve as the base of the neck, on which the foam head is fixed.
  • At the discretion of the master, the long nose of a garden figure can be made from a small piece of wire or wood chips.
  • Long legs for crafts can be made from electrodes or plastic pipes. Both the material is subsequently buried in the ground, due to which the garden figure made of polyurethane foam becomes stable. Therefore, it is not necessary to fill the eggplant with sand for weighting.
  • You can decorate the wings from pieces of foam. They are screwed to the sides of the craft with wire.
  • To give additional strength to the connection of the head with the body, wrapping with tape will help.
  • When the frame of the garden figure is fully assembled, they begin to cover it with mounting foam.
  • After complete solidification, excess fragments are removed with a clerical knife with a sharp blade.

When the mounting foam is completely dry, proceed to decorating. As a primer for a garden figure, you can take water solution PVA glue, diluted in a ratio of 1: 2. The body and head of the craft are covered with white paint, the tail and edging of the wings are made black, the legs of the stork are painted red. As a tail of a stork, you can use real feathers of a poultry, whether it be a goose or a rooster. When the garden figure is completely ready, the stork's legs are buried from the electrodes into the ground.

Overview of original ideas

The choice of garden figures that you can create with your own hands using polyurethane foam is not limited. Here is a modest list of original ideas:

  • A small artificial pond or waterfall will be perfectly decorated with a funny frog or turtle. Someone wants to become the owner of a crocodile or monitor lizard - it all depends on preferences.
  • If children are resting on the site, they will like the presence of crafts in the form of a cheerful Sponge Bob.
  • Bright ladybugs always attract attention.
  • Mounting foam will not require grinding if a lamb is chosen as a garden figure.
  • Sometimes a wire that is braided helps to create a frame with a complex configuration. plastic containers and then gradually filled with foam.
  • The craft does not have to be covered with paint. Some masters of working with polyurethane foam offer to create a real mosaic on a garden figure from small pieces of mirrors or tiles.

In the process of creating any craft, it is important to allow each applied layer to dry well. This applies not only to mounting foam, but also to primers, putties and paints. If the technology is violated, the garden figure can quickly become unusable.

As can be seen from the presented master classes, the steps for decorating garden figures from polyurethane foam are identical. The main thing is to try to keep the proportions when assembling the frame, the rest is a matter of technology.

Mounting foam is a truly unique tool. You probably know that it is used to seal gaps between window frames and openings, as well as to clog all kinds of holes in walls, etc. Some craftsmen even use it as decoration, creating bizarre architectural forms, but these are far from all the possibilities of application. facilities. You will be surprised, but there are many examples of making figures from polyurethane foam with your own hands.

These are original sculptures made with amazing precision. Of course, this process is quite painstaking and requires a lot of diligence, but we will try to simplify it as much as possible and even make it more enjoyable.

Polyurethane foam properties

This tool is known for such a characteristic as expansion upon contact with air. First, the composition foams, multiplying in volume, and then it begins to harden.

Hardened polyurethane foam

In solid form, the foam has a porous structure. It is very sensitive to mechanical impact (you can easily cut it or even push it with your finger), but it has excellent resistance to:

  • temperature fluctuations;
  • high humidity;
  • atmospheric factors.

It is thanks to these useful properties that polyurethane foam is the best suited for creating garden sculptures. There are a few more features to note here:

  • excellent adhesion (this is very useful property, especially when you work with the frame of the future figure);
  • durability (hardened foam does not “fall off” over time and does not lose its shape);
  • ease of handling (thanks to the aerosol spray and a special nozzle, the composition is squeezed out in small portions, which will help create even small parts);
  • convenient cutting (if there is a surplus on the sculpture, they are removed with an ordinary clerical knife).

Materials for manufacturing

First, let's talk about what kind of foam is needed to create garden and interior sculptures. It is recommended to buy a mounting agent from well-known manufacturers, since it is non-toxic and has a balanced composition. Such foam sets quickly, but at the same time allows you to easily edit the sculpture as you need.

Make sure the foam has good adhesion (adhesion) to the materials we'll cover next. Most often this is tested in practice, but you can study the instructions on the can and note for yourself that the composition holds well on both rough and smooth surfaces.

The use of mounting foam in repairs

The foam must be fireproof (in the cured state). If there is no special injector nozzle in the kit, then purchase a squeezing gun (it is inexpensive and is available in any hardware or hardware store).

Take care to protect your hands in advance. Purchase cotton gloves (PVC coated). In addition, stock up on several meters of film that you will lay on the table or on the floor when you create figures for the garden.

From other tools and devices you will need:

  • sharp clerical knife;
  • means for removing foam from various surfaces (kerosene can be used, but be extremely careful when working with it);
  • sandpaper for grouting (try both fine and coarse grit);
  • putty;
  • tassel and acrylic paints(your choice, depends on the type of figure, its size and other factors);
  • clean rags (will help clean up excess).

You will also need a lot of fixtures to create a frame for future sculptures. It can be nails, strong wire, tennis balls, wooden slats, plastic bottles, etc.

Fundamental rules

Before working with mounting foam, carefully read the instructions on its packaging. If you work outside the apartment, then please note that the foam can absorb dust and small debris, and therefore it is recommended to ensure that the workplace is clean and free of drafts.

Painting can be started only when the mounting foam is completely dry. Otherwise, its surface will be inhomogeneous, porous and ugly. If we are talking about a large figure, then its complete drying can take at least a week, be patient.

If you create figurines for the New Year and plan to install them on the street, it is recommended to cover them with oil paint, as it will perfectly protect the products from cracking. Try not to touch the mold before the foam hardens. Firstly, this way you will only get your hands dirty, and secondly, you can ruin the form and leave prints and dents on it.

Putty is used to protect sculptures from deformation. The applied layer makes the figure somewhat heavier, making it more stable.

Manufacturing examples with instructions

Creating volumetric figures using this technology is similar to papier-mâché: you make a frame, and then glue it on top of mounting foam, layer by layer.

Try experimenting with small shapes first. Inflate a regular rubber ball and gradually apply a little of the product. Then - another layer (it will strengthen the walls). You see, you have a semblance of a ball, and this is a blank for a snowman or part of larger figures.

Christmas tree

To make a spectacular Christmas tree, you will need:

  • create an appropriate frame (you can use ordinary cardboard, roll it into a cone, glue and cut it from below);
  • shake the can well and apply a small amount of foam on all sides of the cardboard frame;
  • wait for the product to dry completely and start decorating (improvised glass balls can be made from the same foam, applied in small fragments and painted in different colors).

New Year crafts

Using the same principle as described above, you can create beautiful Christmas balls and various themed decor. There are a lot of options for crafts here:

  1. Father Frost. By joining a few cardboard blanks and plastic bottles with tape, you can create a silhouette of a grandfather, and then foam it, dry it and cover it with red and white paint.
  2. Snowman. To do this, you will need 2-3 round blanks (which are made from ordinary balls). They are connected to each other with silicone glue. If you are unhappy with the shape of the blanks, then you can always trim them with a knife and sand them with sandpaper, making the surface smooth and even.

Lamb

To make the frame, you will need canned food cans, as well as planks. Make a sheep's body out of plastic bottle, and the head - from the bank. Wooden slats can be used for the neck and legs. All elements are easily fastened to each other with nails, screws or even double-sided tape.

Do not worry about the fact that the frame may turn out to be uneven and lopsided. This is easy to fix later when you apply the foam and adjust the sculpture. Sheep is very easy to make. You can paint it with white acrylic, and the eyes and muzzle with black. The very shape of the hardened foam is very reminiscent of natural sheepskin curls.

Snail

The main difficulty lies in the manufacture of the "house" of the snail. To do this, you need to make a metal spiral. Foam should be applied in a circle, starting with a wide radius and gradually leading it to the center. If it doesn't work the first time, don't worry, try again.

Try not to work on a flat surface. By fixing the frame of the "house" vertically, you can make the figure more voluminous and natural. As for the manufacture of the “body” of the snail, an additional frame is made for it, after which the components are connected to each other.

Frog

In this case, you will need an appropriate frame and as much green paint as possible! With enough imagination, you can even make a princess frog, nestled comfortably on a leaf of a water lily. To do this, you need 3 blanks:

  • for the frog;
  • for the crown (it can be covered with spectacular gold paint);
  • for a pitcher.

The biggest difficulty lies in the manufacture of the frame, so that it turns out to be as reliable as possible and, at least from a distance, resembles the shape of a frog. In this case, you may not need to polish the figure to perfect smoothness, since the characteristic pimples will give the sculpture a special charm.

Fox

Here you can also show a lot of imagination! For example, make a fox from a fairy tale about Kolobok, rubbing its paws and licking its narrow black muzzle. To make it look more natural, you can take plastic eyes from an old Soviet toy.

Be sure to look at photos or drawings of real foxes. In this case, you will need the skill of the artist. It will be necessary to paint the figure of the animal, making characteristic white spots on the chest and the tip of the fluffy tail.

Lizard

Everything is pretty simple here:

  • squat, flattened frame;
  • characteristic curve of the long tail;
  • raised head.

As with the frog, you will need a lot of green paint. There is one curious trick. You can buy a mounting grid, put it on top of a dried base and go over it again with a brush using a lighter tone. So you can recreate the scales on the lizard's body.

This is the simplest model that is made from a ball. The problem is that a regular sphere may not be enough, and therefore you will have to apply 3-4 layers of foam (one on top of the other). After that, sand the kolobok well, and boldly paint it yellow, not forgetting to draw eyes and a mouth.

Stork

This figure is quite complicated, but if you get comfortable with all of the above, then you can handle this one. Here you need to create the body of the stork from polyurethane foam, and leave the legs from the wire painted with red paint (do not forget to make one bent, like a real stork).

The bird's neck should be as thin as possible, with a small head and a long red beak. Such a stork will be a real decoration of your garden.

Donkey

The donkey is simple, like the lamb. Their frame is not very different from each other. The only thing is that you will need to make him elongated ears and tail, and carefully sand the body, neck, legs and head with sandpaper so that the surface is smooth. After that, you can safely cover the donkey with gray paint, leaving the white tip of the muzzle.

Overview of original ideas

You can give your garden and interior figures a special charm. If you have an old mirror or a lot of unnecessary CDs, then crush them (of course, observing all precautions). So you can make a real discus thrower that reflects the beams of a spotlight.

Fragments of a mirror or disk are simply sunk into the foam before it hardens, and then thoroughly cleaned and leveled. By the same principle, you can decorate figures with old unnecessary ceramics, carefully splitting it into small fragments.

Universal scheme

As you can see, there are a huge number of ideas for realizing your creativity, and polyurethane foam helps to create beautiful sculptures. If you are not sure what you can do, then start with the simplest. Create any craft from an ordinary wire frame and apply a small amount of product to it, layer by layer.

Gradually, you will see how the silhouette of the figure begins to appear, and you can easily edit it with a clerical knife, giving it the desired shape. Try to be inspired by the characters of your favorite children's cartoons: Cheburashka, Gena the crocodile, lion and turtle, and many others.
