A windmill made of plastic bottles and a do-it-yourself weather vane. How to make a windmill (fuel-free generator) with your own hands - a diagram of assembling a wind generator from plastic bottles Windmills from plastic bottles

With the onset of summer, many gardeners notice tubercles from the ground in their beds. Their presence indicates that the mole has chosen the site. This animal is dangerous because it eats root crops, violates root system plants. To save your crops, keep your crops from dying, learn popular ways to make noisy turntables.

How to make a do-it-yourself mole repeller from plastic bottles

Keep in mind that a mammal is blind, but its hearing and sense of smell are impeccable. For this reason, it is important that a plastic bottle mole repeller generates noise and vibration. This effect is achieved due to the breath of the wind, which sets the device in motion: the blades rotate, transmitting sound waves downward: a resonance is created inside the earth that repels moles. Remember that to protect 6 acres, you need to place about 3-4 small windmills.

The device is made from simple and affordable materials. The structure may have different sizes. A windmill for a garden is created using:

  • two 1.5 liter plastic bottles (use plastic different color or pre-color it acrylic paints from cans);
  • durable scissors;
  • awl;
  • pliers;
  • clerical or construction knife;
  • strong, but easily bent metal wire;
  • four different colored lids plastic bottles;
  • large beads.

Decide in advance on the size of the structure to scare away the mole. Before making a large turntable, additionally acquire:

  • high wooden pole;
  • round metal pin;
  • a small wooden block;
  • multi-colored or transparent plastic liter bottles- you will need 4 pieces;
  • two pucks.

Step-by-step instructions for making a turntable

Learn the most popular way to make a mole spinner from a plastic bottle. The main stages of creating crafts are as follows:

  1. Cut the bottles in half: use a construction or clerical knife, be extremely careful when doing the work. For a windmill, use the top of the containers.
  2. Using scissors on the halves of the containers, cut the blades of the same size.
  3. Carefully bend the cut blades at the base at an angle of 45 degrees, smooth out the bent elements a little.
  4. Poke holes in the center of the wings and lid with an awl.
  5. The bead is strung on a wire.
  6. The metal wire is threaded through the lid, the windmill, the second lid, the bead, the third lid, another blank, the fourth lid, the final bead.
  7. At the end, make a bend with pliers to fix the elements strung on the wire.

Remember that the more details, blades the turntable has, the louder its sound from the wind, the more spectacular the appearance. If you decide to create a large mole repeller, then follow these instructions:

  1. Take a wooden block, make a hole in it: its diameter should be slightly larger than the diameter of the installation rod.
  2. On the four sides of the bar, fix the covers with glue or galvanized fasteners.
  3. On each side plastic containers cut out oval windows.
  4. Screw containers with holes made to fixed lids: as a result, the slots should “look” to the sides, and not up.
  5. Fix the made structure on the pin, fix it from different sides with metal washers, cover the top of the pin with a plug.

If it is not possible to use several containers, then you can limit yourself to one. For work you will need:

  • plastic bottle with a volume of 1.5-2 liters;
  • metal pin;
  • part water pipe;
  • construction or clerical knife.

The scheme for making a turntable is very simple. Do the following:

  1. Find the place where the mole passed, install a part of the water pipe below the detected passage.
  2. Take a pin, place it in installed pipe, fix the part with a cork or with a metal plate and self-tapping screws (tighten them until the caps fit snugly against the plates).
  3. Make a hole at the bottom of the container: its diameter should be larger than that of the pin.
  4. On the walls of the container, draw the letters "P" tilted to the side.
  5. Cut the blades according to the markup, bend.
  6. Put the propeller made of plastic on the pin: it should go up to the neck, screw the cap on.

With the onset of summer, the owners of summer cottages, gardens with hope approach the beds, berry bushes, fruit trees, evaluating the future harvest. The children are looking forward to when the first berry ripens with their grandmother. When the side of a strawberry or cherry is almost blushing, the bird deftly picks up the berry, eating the prey on the go.

It will not be possible to take back the stolen goods. You need to think about pest protection in advance, before the onset of the berry season. So that a delicious treat does not fly away with starlings and thrushes, you need to know how to make a bird repeller from plastic bottles with your own hands.

The device is universal, inexpensive, humane. Let the advice help those who have grown the harvest to enjoy the berries. And the birds will live. After harvesting, they will fly back to the gardens to feed on harmful insects.

From childhood, we are taught that birds are the protectors of gardens. They destroy harmful bark beetles, leaf-eating caterpillars, aphids and other insects that damage vegetables, fruits, and trees. However, for some reason, no one remembers that useful birds turn out to be dangerous pests, destroying the grown crop, if a bird repeller from a plastic bottle is not installed in the garden.

And this is not the only harmful deed committed by birds:

  • Nimble gray sparrows quickly notice when fresh lawns are sown. They instantly come to the site as a friendly family and quickly peck the seeds.
  • Young, immature lawns are harmed by flocks of birds trampling on the grass.
  • feast on seeds vegetable crops love jackdaws. They dig up freshly dug beds and look for prey.
  • Crows, starlings, pigeons are not at all afraid of the proximity of a person. If the opportunity arises, they are not averse to flying onto the balcony, into the gazebo in the country, stealing something edible or shitting on the table, other garden furniture.
  • Sometimes birds like to land on film greenhouses for rest. Flying up, they tear the film with their claws.

We make a bird repeller from a plastic bottle with our own hands

For many years, home-made stuffed animals have been used in vegetable gardens to scare away birds, shiny discs are hung, and magnetic tape from cassettes is stretched.

Modern "kulibins" figured out how to make a bird repeller out of a plastic bottle.

The most simple and good example was demonstrated by the hosts of the program "So far, everyone is at home." Timur Kizyakov and his engineer friend Andrei Bakhmetyev made a device in a matter of minutes that conquered the world and saved crops. Their experience is worth studying.

Sequence of steps

Before you learn how to make a bird repeller out of a bottle, you need to prepare materials and tools.

For work you will need:

  • plastic bottle;
  • pieces of foil;
  • Scotch;
  • knife-cutter;
  • small puck;
  • glue or liquid nails;
  • felt-tip pen;
  • a piece of thick wire;
  • stick holder.

We begin to assemble a bird repeller with our own hands from plastic bottles according to the instructions:

  1. Drill a hole in the lid and bottom, placing them opposite each other. The diameter must be such that the prepared wire or electrode passes freely.
  2. Make markings for future blades with a felt-tip pen. Divide the surface vertically into four parts, draw straight lines. Add two horizontal lines to each vertical line to make four C's.
  3. Make cuts along the marked strips with a knife. It turned out 4 doors-blades that open outward.
  4. Glue a washer onto the wire at a distance of 1 cm from the end.
  5. Place the wire in the bottle, directing it into the hole made in the bottom. The bottle is held on the washer, it spins, it does not fall down.
  6. Screw on the lid by passing the second end of the wire through the hole.
  7. To intimidate birds, you can stick pieces of shiny foil on the blades.
  8. If the length of the wire is at least 1 m, then the repeller can be mounted on it. If the house was not found long steel wire, it is recommended to attach ready product to the stick.

It's time to take the device to the garden, check in practice. Even a small breeze will twist it, which means the task is completed.

Conclusion

Do-it-yourself bird repeller from plastic liter or one and a half liter bottles is the simplest tool that helps to save the crop, drive out uninvited guests from the site.

It is set for the time when protection is required. In autumn, rooks, sparrows, tits and doves will return to the gardens, they will sing songs and destroy real pests.

What is it needed for low power wind generator? The answer is to provide yourself with a certain amount of energy: for lighting in autonomous conditions (on a hike, on a picnic, on an expedition, in the country), for powering and charging portable electronics (phone, tablet, navigator, flashlights, radio, etc.) , even in the US Army they use marching mobile wind generator. So homemade portable windmill also useful as a backup power source in a populated area, for example, if it is installed on a balcony, roof or pole and even a tree, it can also power sensors and other low-voltage devices without mains voltage, and also serve as an advertising structure (kinematic sculpture ). It is also possible to check the wind possibility of installing a powerful wind generator (if a small windmill does not work, then there is nothing to say about a big one).

You can make a carousel windmill from several ordinary PET bottles 1-1.5-2 liters. A lot of available and simple options were sorted out, and the wind turbine made of plastic bottles turned out to be the most affordable, simple and reliable option: the bottles are light and durable, have round shape There are a lot of them and they are practically free. The development is based on the author's patent UA No. 59312 "Wind generator (wind turbine), Moseychuk hydro generator".

There is wind almost always and everywhere (especially at a height or between buildings or hills), and complete calm happens only about 20 days a year, unlike sunny days, for example. In addition, we will make a universal wind generator that can work both as a damless minihydroelectric power station (minihydroelectric power station) and even in manual mode in the absence of wind (our windmill has a manual dynamo generator mode for this)! Attractive? Read on.

Materials we will need

Thin-walled steel (wall thickness 0.8-1.1 mm) pipe with an outer diameter of 25 mm: 2 pieces of 0.5 meters (for the axis of the windmill and the base of the console), 2 pieces of 0.4-0.5 m (for connection axes and bases of the console above and below), one piece of 0.15 cm for attaching the generator to the lower console, in general, about 3.0 meters of pipe are needed (they are just sold by 3 meters). For the prototype, I used a thin-walled chrome-plated pipe with a wall thickness of 1.0-1.1 mm, its strength is enough for a household windmill, and it looks beautiful;

16 PET plastic bottles 1.25-1.5 liters, preferably cylindrical, without concavities for the hands (interestingly, recycling one plastic bottle saves the energy of a 60-watt electric light bulb that works for three hours and up to 2 million are thrown out daily in the world plastic bottles).

16 caps from PET plastic bottles;

2 bearings No. 205 (GOST 180205, 6205-2RS);

2 clamps 6\4" for pipes with rubber for mounting axle bearings with 8 mm studs;

2 3/4" pipe clamps with rubber for attaching the wind turbine to a pole, tree, wall, mast, to ensure fastening, you can simply wind the windmill console along the entire length to the support with a rope or wire;

1 clamp 3 1/2" for attaching a dynamo flashlight or a stepper motor;

9 screws M4 * 35, preferably with a pressure washer head;

16 enlarged washers M5 (namely M5, not M4 to increase the area) for attaching plug caps to the axle;

Rubber tube 10 cm long and 25 mm inner diameter for attaching the handle of the dynamo generator and the axis, or a sleeve in a 25 mm pipe with a hole of 8-10 mm for attaching a stepper motor.

Tools we need

Electric drill;

Pipe cutter or hacksaw;

Drills for metal 4.0; 8.0mm

Phillips screwdriver;

Preferably a 7 wrench for tightening M4 nuts.

The basis of the entire design of the wind turbine is a rectangular console made of steel pipes. The console consists of a vertical axis rotating on bearings, two crossbeams above and below, and a base. The axle is fixed in the bridges with bearings. A generator is located on the bottom of the axis.

The difficulty in making the axis is that you need to drill holes for attaching the bottles along two parallel helixes, like in a DNA molecule. Since the holes on the pipe are of small diameter, we first mark the place of drilling with a marker, and then we punch it.

Let's start with one of the most difficult procedures. We retreat 10 cm from the top of the axis and start drilling through holes 4 mm in a spiral with a left offset horizontally by 2.5 mm vertically by 82 mm. Then we drill the holes of the second spiral 90 degrees from the first.

To fasten the safety bolt of the bearings, we move away from the bottom of the axis 10 cm and drill through hole 4 mm.

To fix the bottles, you first need to attach the corks. We pre-drill (burn) holes of 4 mm in traffic jams. For pairwise fastening of plugs to the axis, we take a 4 mm screw, put a wide washer on it, stick this design into the plug from the inside, and push everything through the pipe. On the other side of the pipe, we put the cork on top of the pipe, put on the washer and tighten the nut inside the cork. And so we repeat 8 times.

We screw tightly into each cork on the axis of the bottle-blade.

blades

Windmill blade made from plastic bottles
and is a PET bottle with an elliptical half cut on the side. We get such a wind turbine blade. We do not touch the bottom - it is necessary for strength. To start cutting, it is advisable to burn the initial hole on the seam of the bottle with a hot nail or file, and then cut a semicircle from it with scissors.

Generator

As windmill generator you need to use something small. It can be a 1, 2, 5-10 watt stepper motor, a bicycle hub dynamo or a flashlight dynamo. I chose the last option - it fits very well: it has a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 6 cm, convenient for clamping with a clamp and unfolds, it is waterproof, it has a built-in controller and a 380 milliamp * hour battery, it can shine in two modes for 1.5 or 5.5 hours , with stable wind or manual mode can recharge external devices through a Nokia-type output (wide, 2.5 mm) or a Nokia cable with a USB male, on which you can put a USB-female-USB-female adapter.

We insert the handle of the dynamo-lantern into the bottom of the rubber tube at the bottom of the axis. We center and fix the generator in the clamp, which in turn is cantilevered to the down tube of the large console.

A plastic bottle is gradually becoming a popular material that is used for various crafts. What kind of animals are not made from it. With the help of simple bottles, you can grow an entire palm plantation in your garden. They build houses, make furniture, and this is just a small list of possibilities. A It’s not difficult at all, especially when you see such wonderful crafts that people make with their own hands.

Before starting work, it is necessary to accumulate improvised material. Buy plastic bottles with some liquid in the store or ask friends to help collect the required amount. Then decide what you want to get. Will it be plastic bottle windmills that will help you identify the power and or you want to hang colorful lanterns that will spin to give your garden a twist. There are many different options and ways. Let's try to describe them, and you yourself will decide what suits you best.

Maybe you want to find out from a plastic bottle for a small child to play with with pleasure. Especially if he, too, will take a feasible part in the work. Let's start from the very simple option. We take a bottle, cut off the bottom. Then carefully cut the entire canvas of the bottle into small strips, coming close to the neck. To get a bright turntable, you can use paint or colored tape. Insulating tape of different colors will also work, or just colored paper. We stick it on plastic and get a multi-colored striped blank. To make the turntable spin better, plastic strips turn slightly 45 degrees. Then we straighten everything as much as possible to get a disk. We fix the cork on a pre-prepared rod or wooden stick. If this is a toy for a child, then it is better to make a small gap between the cover and the shaft so that nothing prevents the blades from spinning.

Now that we know how to make a baby bottle spinner, let's move on to the next options. If you need to install a moving bird repeller in the garden, then you don’t need to look for improvised material. The easiest way is to cut several rectangular plates on the body of the bottle without cutting off completely. Then bend them at an angle of 90 degrees and fix the bottle on the pole. For more noise can be attached to the workpiece plastic lids on threads.

The second way to make a spinner from a plastic bottle involves the use of several blanks. We take the largest bottle. To it with the help of threads or wire we fasten separate parts from the rest of the blanks. Here we use only the bottoms and necks, the middle of the bottles in this option is not needed. On each tier we fasten three parts, turning them with a void in one direction. For example, you have three necks with lids at the bottom that look to the left. And on top you fixed three bottoms, which are directed in the other direction. This is necessary so that your turntable is spinning from the wind from any direction. If desired, add covers for additional noise. Then we fix the whole structure on a pole.

Now you already know several ways to make a spinner out of a plastic bottle. Let's move on to complex, but more beautiful options. To decorate the garden, it is better to make rotating lanterns. A little more effort, but the result is more impressive. We glue transverse strips of different colors on the bottle. The brighter they are, the prettier your turntable will be. Then mark on a flat surface of the bottle vertical stripes from bottom to neck. Using sharp knife cut through the plastic. Squeeze the bottle lightly to bend the strips in the middle. For better torsion at the neck and bottom, we make more folds in different directions. Now we drill a hole in the lid and stretch a rope through it in order to hang a spinning lantern with it.

If you start doing all this, then the rest of the ideas will come to you as you work. You can use halves of bottles or cut special grooves in them. If there are no large containers, then two bottles are joined to each other and the required size is obtained. Try. Get the kids involved. And you will succeed.

A weather vane is a special device used to measure the strength and direction of the wind. It has long migrated from meteorological laboratories, in which more accurate electronic devices appeared, to the roofs of houses, becoming a successful and useful element of decor. Windmills in the form of exotic animals or birds with moving parts set in motion by a slight breeze look elegant and always attract attention. Complex forged products are easier to buy or order from an experienced craftsman, and we will tell you how if you have a creative approach and a do-it-yourself plastic bottle with a propeller.

The weather vane was originally considered a purely meteorological instrument, with which scientists observed the speed and direction of air currents. But people who notice beneficial features of this simple device, they began to make it with their own hands from improvised means and install windmills on the roofs of houses. Over the years, the weather vane has not changed its design, which consists of the following elements:

  • Corps. The case is the part in which the axis of rotation of the windmill is placed. It can be cylindrical or rectangular. For models made of steel, a piece of pipe is used as the body, into which the bearing is inserted. For homemade windmills the body is made of wood.
  • Cap. A cap is a funnel-shaped or round part that is put on the axis of rotation to protect the body from moisture penetration. In addition, it performs the functions of a limiter, fixing the axis of the weather vane at the required height.
  • Axis of rotation. This is an obligatory element of the design of the windmill, on which the weather vane is put on. It is inserted into the body and rotates the weather vane due to the impact of wind gusts on the weather vane. The axis can be made with your own hands from metal rods, wire, sticks or even a nail.
  • Wind rose. This term is called a device for determining the cardinal points. It consists of two cross-linked sticks or sections of pipes, each of which points to a certain direction (gray, south, west, east). When the wind sets the weather vane in motion, the arrow points to one of the cardinal directions, which helps determine the direction of the gust.
  • Flygarka. A wind vane is a rotating element of a windmill that indicates the direction of the wind. It consists of an arrow and a counterweight and is fixed on the axis of rotation. A wind vane can be made in the form of a simple pointer, an animal, a bird, or a whole plot. It is made of galvanized steel, copper, wood, and with your own hands it is easiest to make a weather vane from a plastic bottle.

Note! Some models determine not only the direction of the wind, but also the strength of the gusts. For this, the weather vane is equipped with a hanging part on a rope and a special scale. The suspension can be made from a metal plate or piece of wood. This element is fixed on the wind vane. By the deviation from the vertical position, using a scale, determine the strength of the wind blowing.

Bottle making

If you do not want to spend money on an expensive metal windmill, you can make it yourself from improvised materials, for example, from plastic bottles, which in country house accumulates a lot. This lesson can be turned into a fun workshop for children or enjoy the creative process on your own. To make a weather vane in the form of an airplane with a propeller, you will need 2 big bottles with lids, a wooden block, a long nail, wire, cardboard, a marker and a sharp stationery knife. The work is done in the following order:

Important! During the manufacture of the weather vane, make sure that all materials used are lightweight and moisture resistant. A heavy windmill will spin badly in a light wind, and a cardboard craft will quickly get wet in the rain. If you want the weather vane to accurately show the direction of the wind, it must be fixed at a height of at least 4-5 meters.

Windmill functions

A weather vane is an invariable attribute of seaside towns and villages, where the winds blow constantly, and knowing the direction of air movement is not useless information, but a means of survival. Sailors, fishermen and other people whose lives are closely connected with the sea set up windmills to know if there will be a storm. A properly made and installed weather vane performs the following functions:

    • Helps to determine the direction and strength of air currents. This information is useful for going to the open sea, for performing some agricultural work (sowing, treating with fungicides and other chemicals). Helps to keep diaries of observation of nature.
    • Is bright decorative elements distinguishing the house from its neighbors. The weather vane complements the architectural image of the house, making it authentic and showing the individual style of the homeowner. Models with moving parts depicting plot pictures immediately attract attention, and do-it-yourself windmills made from bottles or plywood speak of the creative abilities of the owner.
    • Rotating parts and the sound produced by the operation of the weather vane scares away birds. Some species of birds are malicious pests that destroy fruit or berry crops in a matter of hours. Weather vane from plastic bottles or sheet metal, spinning, scare away uninvited feathered guests with the help of noise and brilliance.
    • The windmill can serve as a sign, symbolize the occupation of the owner of the structure. For example, shoemakers often set up a weather vane in the form of a boot, millers in the form of a windmill, and a hairdresser can make a weather vane in the form of scissors.

Interesting! In the old days, the weather vane was considered a powerful amulet that protected from the evil eye, evil spirits. The rotating parts, the noise, were supposed to confuse and scare away all malevolent forces from the home. Even if superstitions are alien to you, a beautiful weather vane can become a kind of talisman or family sign.
