The recommended comfortable temperature for underfloor heating is 40°C. The stove in the bath can heat the water to the boiling point. Therefore, in addition to the pump, you will need to install a mixing unit.

Since it will not work to mount a large heat exchanger in the furnace, it will be necessary to install a battery tank near the stove. It is connected with steel pipes to a heat exchanger. To prevent heat loss through the base of the floor, heat-insulating materials are laid on it. They effectively reflect energy and contribute to an increase in the temperature regime in the room.

A warm floor for water drainage is made with a slope towards the drain hole. From there, the water enters the sewer or drainage structure through the pipe. Also, to increase the moisture resistance of the floor surface, it is recommended to use a cement-sand screed and ceramic tile flooring.

Advantages and disadvantages of the system


Water heated floor in the bath, powered by a stove, has the following advantages:

  • No structural elements will generate electromagnetic radiation, like an electric floor heating.
  • Such a system is considered environmentally friendly and harmless to humans.
  • The ability to maintain a comfortable microclimate in the bath.
  • Saving.

The disadvantages of the system include the following points:

  • V winter period water from the pipes will have to be drained so that the frozen liquid does not break them. Otherwise, you will constantly have to heat the furnace. However, if you constantly heat the bath with firewood, no savings will come of it. The only way out is to use antifreeze instead of water.
  • The second disadvantage is that a lot of heat is spent on heating the battery tank, so the stove copes worse with its main tasks - heating the steam room and the washing room.
  • With the simultaneous heating of the floors of several bath rooms, for example, a steam room, a rest room, a washing room and a shower room, a large volume of coolant will be required, which will significantly increase its heating time.
  • In such a bath, it will not be possible to install leaking floors. Otherwise, the insulation will get wet, and the system will become inefficient.

Types of device and materials


To make a warm floor in the bath, you can use several device methods:

  1. Concrete screed is the best way for a bath room, since it allows you to significantly save on materials and has a high degree of moisture resistance due to the use of cement. However, such a floor can be operated only one month after pouring the screed. In addition, if the pipeline is damaged, it is very difficult to find a leak, so the entire screed will need to be dismantled.
  2. It is very convenient to use special polystyrene plates for underfloor heating. They are equipped with a reflective foil layer and have special recesses for fixing heating pipes. However, you still have to pour a screed on top of them.
  3. Laying heating pipes in a wooden floor system is also possible. However, an accurate calculation is needed here in order to determine the locations of the holes in the logs for laying the pipeline. But the maintainability of such floors is higher.

Tip: polystyrene foam boards, mineral wool, expanded clay mortar, polystyrene can be used as a heat-insulating material in any design.

Water floor device


The warm floor in the bath consists of the following structural layers:

  • a waterproofing layer is needed so that condensate does not collect in the floor during operation of the heating system;
  • thermal insulation will prevent heat loss through the lower floors;
  • reinforcing mesh protecting the layer of insulating material;
  • a reflective layer of foil material will reflect heat energy into the room;
  • a piping system laid in a spiral (this will allow the surface to be heated evenly);
  • leveling screed with a slight slope towards the drain hole;
  • front finish.

To lay the floor on the ground, before laying the waterproofing, a rammed sand and gravel cushion is made and a layer of expanded clay is poured. It will perform additional thermal insulation functions.

Preparatory work


Before you start making a warm floor in the bath, you need to prepare the base and properly organize the drain. To do this, we do the following:

  1. We take out the soil under the washing room between the walls of the foundation. We tamp the surface. At the same time, a sewer pipe must first be laid in the foundation wall to drain water. Through it, water will enter the septic tank, sewer pit or other sewer device.
  2. Next, you need to make a backfill of sand and gravel 15 cm high and compact it.
  3. Then insulation is made with expanded clay. Layer height - 150-200 mm, depending on the climatic conditions of the region. At the same time, do not forget to make a slope towards the drain.

Heating system installation


After preparing the base of the floor in the bath, you can start laying the heating pipeline:

  1. First, waterproofing is laid from two layers of roofing material. The joints are glued with mastic. The direction of laying strips in layers is mutually perpendicular.
  2. Now the floor is covered with heat-insulating material. At this stage, also do not forget about the slight slope of the floor towards the drain.
  3. A reinforcing mesh is laid to protect the insulating layer.
  4. Pipes of the floor heating system are laid on top of the grid.

Important: copper or metal-plastic pipes can be used for water heating.

  1. After connecting the pipes and checking the correct operation of the system, you can pour the screed.
  2. Before pouring the screed around the perimeter of the room, a damper tape is mounted to prevent temperature deformations of the floor. For screed, you can use the usual cement-sand mortar, reinforced with fiberglass, or ready-made dry mixes.
  3. The screed is poured and leveled over the beacons. In this case, the floor should have a slight slope towards the drain hole.
  4. After the screed has completely hardened, you can start laying the floor covering.
