Necessary materials and tools

To create a chair you will need various materials. Individual parts will be made from them. First of all, these are wooden bars and boards from which the frame, seat and back are assembled. Instead of natural solid wood, chipboard or plywood can be used, but these materials are short-lived. For fastenings, take self-tapping screws in sufficient quantities. You will need sandpaper of medium hardness.

Bar dimensions (length):

  • supporting legs - up to 20 cm;
  • connecting strips of the seat frame - up to 20 cm;
  • back straps - up to 20 cm.

A handmade wooden chair can be decorated to your liking.

In the manufacturing process for the legs, the thickest bars with a section of 5x5 cm are used. For the slats, parts with a diameter half that of the support ones are taken.

For slats, parts are taken with a diameter half that of the reference ones.

The parameters of the seat board (height and width) should also not exceed 20 cm. The back part may be slightly higher, but preferably no more than 30 cm.

  • they are less durable;
  • the environmental friendliness of such products is not 100% proven.

The parameters of the seat board (height and width) should also not exceed 20 cm.

To make a chair with your own hands, you need the right tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • screwdriver;
  • jigsaw;
  • wood cutter.

The dorsal part may be slightly higher, but preferably no more than 30 cm.

The assembled highchair "requires" original decor. In addition to the carving option, you can use paint or other materials to apply a pattern or application. You will need a stencil to accurately apply the image.

Deciding on design and construction

For wood products, you can come up with any option. The highchair is usually made with straight supports and the following forms dorsal design:

  • solid square or rectangular;
  • wide truncated cone;
  • straight through (with a jumper bar).

You will need a stencil to accurately apply the image.

Creating a product with your own hands requires careful preparation. First of all, you need to make a sketch of the project. Draw a visual diagram of the connections of all parts separately with calculations of sections and lengths. Following the sketches, you will recreate the model in reality with accurate parameters. A chair, where all the thoughtful dimensions are observed, will “fit” the baby, will not create inconvenience.

For wood products, you can come up with any option.

Certain models are created with the expectation that the child sits at a common table with other family members. In this case, high legs are chosen for the product, which are not attached exactly vertically with respect to the seat and floor, but more widely. The lower part of such a chair will look like a truncated cone, connected for stability with wooden bars around the perimeter. The upper part will be about 30-35 cm below the level of the table.

The highchair is usually made with straight supports and the following forms of the spinal structure

If you have certain skills, then you can assemble a folding product. Such items are easily removed if necessary in storage places.

For selected design solution details are processed in accordance with it.

Manufacturing process: step by step instructions

After preparing a drawing with exact parameters, we begin to assemble a simple child chair chik.

  1. Calculate exactly according to the scheme the length of the legs, saw off the excess with a hacksaw.
  2. Saw to size jumper bars that will secure the frame in the seat area.
  3. Connect them to the supporting structure. For reinforcement, add furniture glue.
  4. Attach the pre-fitted back and seat with self-tapping screws.
  5. All parts of wood must be cleaned with sandpaper so that there are no roughness and burrs.

A chair, where all the thoughtful dimensions are observed, will “fit” the baby, will not create inconvenience.

If the parts are disproportionate, "adjust" them according to the design scheme using a hacksaw. To make the highchair created by yourself comfortable, ask the baby to sit on it, ask how comfortable he is.

If all dimensions have been determined correctly, the child will like the new furniture. To make the details smooth, go over the surface with sandpaper again.

Certain models are created with the expectation that the child sits at a common table with other family members.

To varnish the product, use only safe compositions - a special coating for children's furniture, environmentally friendly and having the appropriate certificate.

The upper part will be about 30-35 cm below the level of the table.

After finishing the exterior varnish, let the chair dry well, a day or two. Then you can start decorative trim if one is intended. If it consists in carving, then varnishing is done after the completion of the artistic processing and sanding of the parts.

Chair decoration

Use a jigsaw for carving. You can make a decoration in the form of a flower by cutting it in the center of the back, or any geometric shape. First, at the place of the future decor, make a markup with a pencil so that the thread is even. Parts such as legs and back can be carved. The corners of the seat can be rounded off with a jigsaw and sandpaper.

In the manufacturing process for the legs, the thickest bars with a section of 5x5 cm are used.

The top can also be made not strictly rectangular, but a truncated cone, rounded, composite. In the latter option, you will need additional bars and cross bars - one or two. They are fixed due to special holes in the junctions with the dorsal frame. This is a rather time-consuming process, but if you wish, you can choose this option.

For fastenings, take self-tapping screws in sufficient quantities.

All actions for processing parts must be performed before the highchair is assembled - so the work process will be faster, more convenient and more accurate.

If you have certain skills, then you can assemble a folding product.

To make a piece of children's furniture made with your own hands look more interesting, you can put a pattern on the back and seat. To do this, you need to use safe paints. The color scheme should be bright, cheerful. Simple ornaments, floral patterns, imitation of children's toys, such as cars, look great on wooden furniture.

Instead of natural solid wood, chipboard or plywood can be used, but these materials are short-lived.

Due to the fact that the size of the product is small, a large pattern will become a kind of accent that attracts the attention of the child - he will like to sit on such a beautiful chair, play or have breakfast.

In decoration, you can use applications - there are plenty of adhesive bright films on sale.

The image will turn out even if you use a stencil previously cut out of paper or thick plastic.

In decoration, you can use applications - there are plenty of adhesive bright films on sale. The image will be monophonic or multi-color - it depends on your imagination.

First of all, these are wooden bars and boards from which the frame, seat and back are assembled.

It is not recommended to use volumetric (protruding) parts, both small and large, in the decoration of the seat or back of the children's chair. Firstly, it is inconvenient for the child, and secondly, they quickly fall off with frequent use of the product.

To create a chair, you will need various materials.

Procurement of parts

For a combined design baby chair US come in handy:

  • bar with section 200x400 mm on legs and crossbars;
  • Board small size thick 200-250 mm for rounded armrests. For sawing parts on a chair, you can use a wooden board -. This durable material perfectly imitates timber and can be used not only for facade cladding, but also for construction. For example, to create, covers for, in the country;
  • Fiberboard sheet 2x2.1 m(fibreboard) for the manufacture of the seat;
  • Plywood on the tabletop.

Chair details

  • Legs, length 390 mm, 4 things;
  • Cross bar, length 300 mm, 3 details;
  • rounded elements, 4 things;

It is not necessary to buy all the material, you can partially use the ones available on the farm wooden planks and cropping, fitting them to the desired size.

Making a chair: stages of work

Stage one: wood preparation

bar sawn according to given sizes. Its individual pieces are processed (polished) with sandpaper, thanks to which all irregularities and scratches are removed from the surface of the tree so that in the future the baby does not drive a splinter.

It is better to connect the bars with wooden dowels(connecting elements), you can make them yourself by cutting out sticks of size 10x20x50 or buy ready spikes in a store with furniture fittings.

Advice! If there is no time and desire to mess with dowels, it is permissible to simply connect the parts using self-tapping screws.

In the bars themselves and the board at the attachment points, you need to cut or drill holes, suitable in size for dowels (approximately deep 30-40 mm), being careful not to pierce the wood through.

Second step: assembly of the sidewalls

The future chair will have two sides, for each one will need 2 roundings, on 2 top and bottom slats and two legs. Each side is assembled apart, first the legs and the lower crossbar are connected, roundings are attached to the upper crossbar separately, after which these two elements stick together together.

Before connecting two bars, the junction and dowels are well are smeared glue, you can even use ordinary PVA. The second sidewall is assembled in the same way, then these details must be left for the day let it dry, and then sand it again.

Attention! During the assembly process, you need to ensure that the angles between the bars are straight, and the sidewalls are completely the same.

Third step: joining the seat

Chipboard cut into 6 rectangles 300x250 mm, each has two adjacent corners rounded along the long side. To secure baby, all the edges need to be carefully sand, and then glue the plates along three pieces and put them under the press for a day. The result is a solid, durable back and seat.

Finished parts fastened together with a corner or a strip of metal bent along, screwed with screws.

Fourth stage: assembling the chair

sidewalls connected by transverse strips using dowels, fixed with glue. In the same way, planks are attached to the structure to support the back and plywood countertops.

Advice! It is more convenient to first fold the structure, mark places for dowels, drill holes and bait the bars without glue - this way you can replace the flaws in time and fix them.

Fifth stage: creating a table

Technology Assembling a table is similar to assembling a chair. First, the upper and lower planks are attached to the legs, then the resulting sidewalls are interconnected by transverse bars with a length of 340 mm.

sidewalls desirable sand with a fine emery cloth, make their surface even, smooth, safe for use.

The next step is fastening countertops. We fasten it from the end of the structure - and that's it, reliable children's table-chair ready.

Sixth stage: making a soft seat

In principle, this is not necessary, but for the comfort of the child, it is better to make the seats, and if desired, the back soft.

To do this, on a chipboard sheet you need to glue foam rubber thick in 1-2 cm and cover it with non-marking fabric or bright oilcloth children's colors.

WITH reverse side seat fabric easy fastened with a construction stapler.

Advice! To save foam rubber can be replaced with several layers of synthetic winterizer

Manufacturing baby chair for feeding at home will take only a couple of days, and then on the basis that the work will be carried out only in free time in the evenings. So if you want, you can quickly, high-quality and inexpensive to build a cute chair for your baby.

From this video You will learn how to make a baby chair for feeding yourself:

When it comes to wooden furniture for a child, many parents wonder - is it possible and how to make a children's highchair for feeding with their own hands according to the drawings? There is only one answer - of course, you can, if you know how to hold a planer, saw and hammer in your hand. The main thing is to decide what kind of wooden chair you need to make - folding (regular), transformer, growing, or simply sewing mobile from fabric. In this article, we will focus on a regular folding chair, and take a closer look at its example, how to make a do-it-yourself highchair for feeding, and also show impromptu diagrams with dimensions.

Do-it-yourself baby highchair drawings diagram dimensions - getting started

To get started, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the video, which can inspire you to make a folding wooden children's highchair for feeding with your own hands. Of course, the video has flaws. There are no blueprints, no phased display- how and what is being done. The author of the video himself said that he took the dimensions out of his head. He shows what he has done. However, if without exact dimensions and having only a rough plan, you can do SUCH, then it's simple. He made an excellent chair, and this cannot but inspire him to create his own masterpiece.

Usually, before you start making something yourself, you need to clearly define the type of chair and its dimensions. To do this, sketch out at least a rough plan on paper. For more experienced craftsmen, it may not be needed, but the dimensions are still needed.

So, what is a classic folding wooden feeding chair? Seat with a small table, located on high legs that fold. The table and seat can also be folded. Only the back and front legs remain stationary.

In order not to reinvent the wheel, the scheme can be searched on the Internet. There are several of these do-it-yourself baby highchairs with drawings and dimensions. Most good options shown in the picture.

When deciding on the size, first of all, you need to know the height at which the chair itself is located. Optimal Height the legs of a folding wooden chair are about 80 cm (800 mm). At this height, it is convenient to feed the child - there is a table and armrests on it. The seat itself is located at a height of 60 cm (600 mm) from the floor. But the legs will have to be done exactly according to the height of the table.

In general, when choosing the height of the legs of a do-it-yourself highchair for feeding, you should follow two rules:

  1. It should be convenient for parents to feed the child, and not bend down next to him in three deaths. At the same time, the height of the chair should be such that the grown-up baby, if desired, could climb into it himself.
  2. It is very convenient that the chair in its unfolded state enters with its small table under the usual large table, or is flush with it. So you can not only feed the child while being at the big table yourself, but also let him play at this big table, or let him just be next to you at the table. Choose your option.

Do-it-yourself highchair for feeding - looking for the right material

Generally wooden furniture best made from coniferous wood. Bars of them are cheaper and the easiest to work with. However, both spruce and pine can release resin, which is highly toxic and may not be good for babies. Therefore, a do-it-yourself highchair for feeding (and in general, all products for small children) is best made from linden. Lime bars are also easy to process, but the linden does not emit poisonous resin.

After you have decided on the type of tree, you need to cook (buy, find in the bins) right amount bars and boards from which details for the future chair will be cut. And for this you need to choose a suitable scheme or drawing of a baby highchair with dimensions in order to have a clear idea of what parts you will make it with your own hands.

So, we liked the following scheme, then the spare parts for the high chair will be as follows:

  1. 4 long bars per leg (80 cm each)
  2. 2 transverse strips located between the legs below - the main support for the high chair (450x60 mm)
  3. Side "high chair walls" - 2 pieces. (200x200 mm). The legs are attached to them.
  4. Armrests - 2 (400x30 mm)
  5. 2 planks between which the back of the chair is attached (170x20 mm)
  6. 2 rear crossbars - located between the two hind legs, the seat (310x30 mm) rests on the top.
  7. Table - 1 (500X200mm)
  8. Seat and back (300X300mm), (400X300mm)
  9. Two crossbars located between the front legs. They play the role of steps so that the baby can climb onto a chair on them. And also they are needed so that the legs of the chair do not spontaneously disperse in case of poor fasteners. Although, ... they play a secondary role, so making steps is optional. (310X60mm).

The thickness of all bars is 25 mm. This is quite enough for a toddler up to 20 kg - the design will withstand. Of course, if he doesn’t jump on a chair like on a trampoline, well)

Folding wooden children's highchair for feeding with their own hands - preparing the details

As an example of a do-it-yourself folding wooden baby highchair, you can use the following videos. It first shows phased production, and then the final result of manufacturing. The author tells what and how he did. A glimpse shows the dimensions and a rough plan. However, even such a short review is quite understandable in order to learn from his experience and make your own chair.

After you have decided on the number of parts and their sizes, have found the right material, you should go directly to their cutting, sawing. For this, it is most convenient to use an electric jigsaw. Those who deal with carpentry will understand me, because not everyone has a machine at home. After all the details are cut out, you need them CAREFUL clean from burrs, then sand (treat) with sandpaper. Small children not only feel everything with their hands, but also try it on the tooth. So once again ATTENTION. no burrs, the safety of the baby directly depends on this. No one needs extra injuries and splinters, so we do it thoughtfully and with passion.

When all the details are cut out, processed with sandpaper, you can proceed directly to the assembly of the chair.

How to make a do-it-yourself highchair for feeding - assembly

Now, having ready-made spare parts and a plan in my head, to the question of how to make a highchair for feeding with your own hands, there is only one answer - to assemble. For assembly, you will need self-tapping screws, hinges, wooden or metal dowels. So let's go.

  • First, the sidewalls are screwed to the front legs (processed bars).
  • At the back, two strips are screwed to the sidewalls, between which the back will be located
  • Screw the back to the planks.
  • Install hind legs. They are attached either in the center of the sidewall, or in the middle to its upper part. It is the hind legs that become mobile.
  • Screw on the crossbar on which the seat rests. After that, you can screw the rest of the transverse strips, including the lower ones, on which the chair will directly stand.
  • Attach a seat. It is attached either on small loops, or on couplings that hold the pipes together.
  • Screw the armrests to the table
  • Attach the armrests to the chair. They are attached to the back bars, to which the backrest is screwed.

Chair assembly completed

DIY highchair for feeding - the final stage

After the do-it-yourself baby highchair is made and assembled, you should take care of the soft seat, in other words, the comfort of the baby. To do this, foam rubber is glued to the back and seat, after which the seat is upholstered with washable oilcloth in bright colors. If the foam rubber does not stick stubbornly, then we fasten it with furniture staples or just large staples and a construction (furniture) stapler. Oilcloth can also be attached with a construction stapler, here you can take small staples.

The finished chair must be painted or stitched. At the same time, paints should be used ATTENTION., exclusively ACRYLIC, and varnishes NON-TOXIC. This is necessary in order not to harm the health of the child, and suddenly he decides to try the chair for a tooth.

DIY baby highchair - which is easier to make or buy

And now, after sweating and, finally, having done it, let's ask ourselves a question - is it easier to make or buy a children's highchair for feeding with your own hands? Today, most parents don't bother. And they just go to the store and buy the chair they like. In general, this is justified. Of course, if you buy finished material and make a chair yourself, you can save on funds. Especially when you consider that folding wooden chairs from well-known manufacturers today are not cheap. However, the usual purchased wooden transformer comparable in price to a folding chair made by hand. Therefore, if the question is which is easier: do it yourself or buy it, then the answer is unequivocal - it's easier to buy.

Another thing is, if you like to do everything yourself, there will not be such a question here. In addition, if you often make something, then you will certainly have a large supply building material. Then you won’t have to spend much money, but only to sort out long-term blockages, which is also not bad.

Ultimately, you will decide what is preferable for you, but I want to say to beginners: any dad can make a simple folding wooden children's highchair for feeding with their own hands. You don't need to be a professional carpenter to do this.

Still don't know how to design a high chair yourself? Our article will help you understand all the intricacies of folding this irreplaceable piece of furniture. You will see that it is not difficult to assemble wooden children's chairs with your own hands.

Material

Before you start assembling a chair with your own hands, you should decide on the material. Of course the tree is the best choice It is completely safe and environmentally friendly. What wood to choose? Let's start with beech. Beech is considered a dense and durable tree, and it is easier to work with it than, for example, oak. If you are looking for something more budget, birch and pine - a good option. But before you start work, you should deresin the tree, since the resin, even if it is natural, is unsafe. Also, for the manufacture of a chair, you can choose plywood - good material made from layers of tree veneer. Plywood is not heavy and is easily processed. Chipboard - the most affordable, but at the same time, the most short-lived. It is suitable for making the tabletop of a high chair.

Training

You can find material and drawings for children's furniture at any hardware store. Dry the tree by leaving it in a room at room temperature for a day. The wood will become workable.
Are you not sure that you can make all the elements of the chair with your own hands? Contact a hardware store.

The back and seat should be rectangular. The side parts of the children's chair can be made and decorated as you like. Try not to make a highchair with sharp corners - they are dangerous for the child.

Material handling

Naturally, to use the material in original form it is impossible for both a regular chair and a high chair. It needs to be processed. You can do it yourself or turn to professionals. The tree should be treated with manual router or regular sandpaper. With a milling cutter, processing must be carried out in transverse sections. Varnish. Get a varnish with a turpentine base - it does not contain toxic substances. After letting the varnish dry, sand the surface several times. For smoothness varnish again.

Procedure and design scheme

On the video: another version of the design of the chair. Be sure to check it out 🙂

Dowels can be used to fasten a regular chair. They are good because they can also be made from wood with your own hands. Under them, holes should be made with a diameter of 6-8 mm. Push the parts tightly onto the dowels, tapping them with a hammer. Fix with a clamp and leave for 24 hours. If you need to fix the elements of the high chair, it will be more convenient to use confirmations. Such ties are suitable for folding a large number of parts.

You can make drawings and diagrams yourself or find them on a construction site. It is better to do the drawing yourself, measuring the parameters of the child. Carefully calculate the dimensions, the ratio of height and width. Of course, it is more difficult to draw a diagram for a high chair yourself, so it is better to turn to ready-made drawings.

If you've made a drawing but aren't quite sure if it's correct, test it out by folding a cardboard model of the chair.

Usually children from 1 to 6 are folded with either ordinary wooden chairs for games or activities, or a high chair. You can make your own separate small table and a chair using the blueprint.

Regular wooden chair

For a regular do-it-yourself chair, you will need the following parts:

  • 2 short legs, 2 long (53 cm high). Dimensions of 4 legs - 3.8 * 3.3 cm;
  • seat (approx. 30*30 cm);
  • backrest (6 mm thick, 22.5 cm high);
  • bars under the seat;
  • drawing of an ordinary chair.

An angle should be made from the wide parts of the high legs. Align the sides of the short legs and bars with a grinder. Take drilling machine and install a drill with a diameter of 6 mm. Measure a depth of 1.5 cm on the drill and mark it using the drawing. Drill along the long legs at an angle, making 12 holes. We select everything with a chisel from the drilled parts, make grooves. We insert the back into the grooves.

If part of the back rests, cut out a triangle, drive the back into the groove with a hammer. Make spikes from the sides of the bar and round the corners. We make grooves for spikes in the legs. Assembling the frame. If the back is too wide and does not fit into the grooves, measure and cut off the excess. Do not forget to make triangles on the sides of the back so that it sits firmly in the grooves. Do not rush to insert into the rear legs. Make a handle for the chair in the back. Mark the distance and cut a hole for the handle.

Insert the back into the frame. Now we make marks on the seat and cut it out. Sand the seat and insert into the frame.

Lubricate the holes, elements and spikes for fastening with glue, fix with clamps, leave to dry.

Wooden children's chair for feeding

You will have to spend more time and money on a wooden highchair for feeding a child. In order to make such a piece of furniture with your own hands, you will need:

  • bars with a section of 400 * 200 mm
  • board (thickness 20 mm)
  • fibreboard 2000*2100 mm in size.
  • drawing of a chair for feeding

For the chair you will need: 4 legs, 2 upper crossbars and 2 lower crossbars, 3 crossbars, a tabletop.
For the table: legs, slats, crossbars of 4 pieces, tabletop

We cut out the parts for the chair from the bars, process them with sandpaper. We cut out the elements for the chair handles from the board. We connect with the help of dowels and glue. Under the dowels, holes with a depth of 30 mm will be needed.

For the sidewall, you will need crossbars, 2 roundings, 2 legs. Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue. First, assemble the bottom bar and legs (the angle should be 90 degrees). Then we assemble the upper crossbar and two roundings. We tighten everything with a clamp. We leave for one day. The second sidewall is folded in the same way. Make sure they are the same.

Now another important step is the assembly of the seat and back. Be careful here, as children are very restless during feeding, so all details must be fixed tightly. You need 6 parts from a plate with dimensions of 300 * 250 mm. Round the corners so that the radius is 50 mm. Next, you need to do the sanding of the ends. Lubricate the parts with glue and press. You can connect the back and seat with screws. We glue the cross-bars with the sidewalls. Then you need to connect the legs with all the planks, attach the sidewalls with crossbars and fix the tabletop on one of the ends. We get a ready-made highchair for feeding.

With the advent and then the growth of the child, there is a constant need to acquire new things. Many of them you can make yourself. This will not only save money, but also make a product for your baby, the quality of which you will be 100% sure of. For example, if you carefully consider the choice of materials, select drawings, follow the instructions, then making a children's, really good, highchair for feeding with your own hands is a very real task that every parent can do.

What should be the chair and table for feeding the baby?

The main requirement that applies to all children's furniture is safety. Materials must be environmentally friendly. Chairs, tables are made without sharp edges, as well as dangerous joints. In addition, small children are very active, so the stability and reliability of the design are of particular importance.

When making a high chair that will help you comfortably feed your child, consider the following wishes:

  • the product should have a comfortable, preferably soft seat;
  • the comfortable back of the chair cannot be higher than the shoulders of the child, it should be soft, comfortable;
  • it is advisable to equip a children's chair with a comfortable leg support;
  • The highchair will be easier to care for if its surfaces can be washed and the upholstery material is quick-drying or water-repellent.

The simplest, as well as economical option for creating a high chair with a table is to equip an ordinary high chair with a shelf-footboard and attach a small table to the armrests, on which you can place a plate of food, a cup of juice or tea. Increasing safety, such products are often equipped with harnesses (with carabiner clasps) that securely fix the child.

Multifunctional models are popular among parents. For example, helping to conveniently place a child when feeding, a transforming children's chair. It consists of two parts: a small children's chair itself with a small overlay table and a structure that is both a high seating base and a separate children's table.

The first use case is more suitable for a child from 6 months to 2 years. On such a chair, you can simply feed the baby by placing his plate on a small table fixed on the railing of the chair, or you can move the entire structure to the adult large table. The second method is recommended to be used from 2 to 5 years. It is a separate arrangement of a children's chair with a table. At this age, girls and boys can already do a lot on their own. Sitting behind such furniture, you can eat, draw, play games, even learn to write.

What you need to make a chair for feeding a baby

Professionals in the manufacture of children's furniture recommend using linden, beech, birch wood, but you can also take pine. Individual parts can be made from plywood. Young children, especially with the appearance of teeth, love to try everything, gnaw, so it is important to choose non-toxic Decoration Materials- varnishes, acrylic-based paints.

Materials, tools for work

To make a convenient, as well as practical model of a table-stand and a chair for feeding with your own hands, you need to prepare:

  • wooden beam with a section of 400x200 mm, the legs of a chair, table, crossbar will be made from it. When choosing wood, pay attention that there are no resin stains or knots on it. Such defects greatly complicate the processing of future furniture parts.
  • A small board (about 250 mm thick) from which the armrests will be made.
  • A sheet of fiberboard or plywood will serve as the seat material.
  • Plywood for countertops.
  • Drill.
  • Clamps.
  • Hacksaw.
  • Roulette, square, compasses.
  • The pencil will help you mark the tree.
  • PVA glue.
  • Lacquer or paint.
  • If you are making the seat and back soft, use foam rubber, upholstery fabric, and a furniture stapler to secure them securely.

Preparing parts, assembling a chair

  1. Use the tools to prepare the following parts:
  • 4 chair legs 390 mm long;
  • 3 cross bars of the chair, 300 mm long;
  • 4 rounded parts of the chair;
  • 1 chair top - 340x200 mm (size, shape can vary upon request);
  • 2 upper crossbars for the chair, 220 mm each;
  • 2 lower crossbars for the chair, 340 mm each;
  • 4 legs of a table-stand 500 mm long;
  • 4 transverse bars of the table, 340 mm each;
  • 4 slats - table details 410 mm each;
  • plywood from which the countertop will be made, its dimensions are 380x450 mm.

If the farm has boards or wooden trimmings, they can replace some materials. You just need to give them the proper look and size.

  1. The main thing that needs to be done after cutting the parts is to consistently, carefully sand the wooden blanks with sandpaper. After grinding, all surfaces should be perfectly smooth, without bumps, roughness, so that the child does not drive a splinter.
  2. Based on the attached drawing, transfer the markings of the rounded parts to the surface of the tree. At the same time, in order for the part to come out strong, the wood fibers must be located perpendicular to the angle of its bend. Using a carpentry machine or just a hacksaw, cut out these elements.
  3. You can make your own dowel bars 8x20x50 mm or purchase them in a special store. With the help of dowels with glue, the parts of the chair and table will be connected. Pre-drill holes carefully (approximately 30-40 mm). Also, for reliable fastening of parts, you can use self-tapping screws.
  4. We collect the sidewall of the chair (2 roundings, upper and lower crossbars, 2 legs). Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue, first the legs - we connect them. Then we do the same with the lower crossbar and roundings. During operation, we control that the connections are made at a right angle. After assembly, we tighten and fix the elements with a clamp until completely dry (about 24 hours).
  5. Similarly, we collect the second sidewall. Let's compare both results. Additionally, we process all parts with sandpaper.
  6. We proceed to the manufacture and assembly of the seat and back of the chair. Cut out 6 pieces 250x300 from fiberboard. Moreover, the radius of curvature must be made 50 mm (as in the diagram). Carefully grind the cut parts. We glue 3 parts each, put them under the press.
  7. We connect the finished back and seat with a corner or screws to choose from. Also for this you can use a strip of tin with a thickness of 80-100 mm. Bend it in the center and attach with screws.
  8. We collect a children's chair. We fasten the sidewalls of the product with crossbars (300 mm). In the slats on which we will mount the seat, we make 4 holes for the dowels. There are also 4 in the bar under the back (of which: at the ends - 2 pcs., In the bar - 2 pcs.) Make holes on the sidewalls: 2 - under the bar that will hold the back, and 2 under the bar for installing the countertop.
  9. Before final assembly, it is necessary to check the accuracy of the connections, then assemble the entire structure for dowels and glue. After a day, sand the chair again, remove excess glue.
  10. Cover the product with eco-friendly varnish or paint.

Table assembly

  1. The assembly of the table-stand follows the same algorithm as the chair:
  • We put the markup, indicating the connection points.
  • We prepare dowels, drill holes with a drill.
  • We check the corners, the correctness of the connections.
  • We assemble a fragment of the product, leave the glue to dry (we fasten the legs with the help of the lower and upper strips of 410 mm each; each sidewall is attached with crossbars 340 mm long).
  • Installing the tabletop.
  • We grind all parts of the product (even hard-to-reach).
  • We open with varnish or paint.

To make the transforming chair more comfortable for the baby, it is better to make the seat and back soft. Glue pieces of foam rubber or several layers of batting on these surfaces with furniture glue. bigger size(by 10-20 mm). On top, wrap the seat and back with upholstery fabric or leatherette. Fix the stretched material on the reverse side with a stapler. It will be appropriate to install an overlay (fabric or plywood) on the back of the back to prevent the child from accessing the furniture brackets.

As you can see, making a wooden children's chair and table with your own hands is not very difficult task. So you will provide your child with a comfortable and safe place for eating, and later for developing games and drawing.
