  • Larch - durable, beautiful material, which has a curative effect. However, not every piece of furniture can be made from this breed, to benefit the body, because. varnished for protection. There will be no additional benefit from a larch table, but you can make any figure.
  • Pine is one of the most common tree species used in construction. The material is soft and pliable, but can quickly lose original view, so it is recommended to cover it with several layers of varnish.
  • Walnut - great choice for lovers of aesthetics. In addition to the fact that walnut products are very durable, openwork patterns can be cut out of them, decorating tables, chairs, cabinets and other furniture. Products from it are quite heavy.
  • Oak is a popular breed among builders and designers. Oak wood has collected aesthetics, practicality: beauty, strength, low exposure to aggressive environmental conditions, reliability.

Furniture

Before you start building a wooden kitchen, it's best to contact more experienced builders for more information. This will save you from wasting time, nerves, materials, money. As a result, you will get an excellent result that will please the eye.

So, a few tips that furniture makers give:

1 Select Standard Sizes

When the flight of fancy is unlimited, the head is full of design solutions, you want to create a completely unusual kitchen furniture that you can’t buy in a store. Masters say that it is better to apply this idea elsewhere, and to make frames according to standard drawings and diagrams. This is more convenient for both calculations and assembly.

By making some cabinets too big and others too small, you will create unnecessary problems for yourself. Then it will be quite difficult to pick up things that can be stored in them, and a strong range of cabinet sizes is bad for the style and design of the kitchen.

Advice

Unused space can be filled with drawers, which also perform the entire arsenal of storage functions. They will allow you to make the most efficient use of the available space.

2 Don't buy a very expensive tree

If you are just a beginner builder, there is no need to spend extra money. During manufacture, you can accidentally spoil some material, so a simple tree does not look worse than an expensive one.

3 Use only moisture resistant wood

Never use untreated wood in your work. It does not like moisture very much, it quickly deforms under its action, bringing all the work down the drain.

In stores you can immediately buy impregnated by special means, or do the coating yourself.

4 Don't Forget Extra Care

No matter how expensive, high-quality a tree is, it will still deform under the influence of sunlight, air, and temperature. To slow down this process, the wood should be treated with wax or protective varnish about once a year.

On a note

The right selection of colors is what your kitchen needs. Bright, warm colors will cheer you up, cheer you up, and whet your appetite. If you have special places in the room, highlight them with bright colors. For those who prefer peace and tranquility, we suggest choosing cold, dark tones.

DIY furniture drawing steps

In order to correctly draw up drawings, and build kitchen furniture according to them, one cannot do without knowing the little subtleties:

  • When drawing a drawing, be sure to take into account the possible curvature of the walls and all protruding structures. In order not to be mistaken in this, it is recommended to take measurements at the very bottom, at the baseboard or floor, then approximately in the middle and finally at the ceiling. Of the three values, choose the smallest.
  • After measurements and their verification, the data can be transferred to the drawing. Window sills, baseboards, doorways, jambs, sewerage, heating, even sockets must be taken into account there.
  • Now we make on paper an approximate layout of the location of the headset. We advise you to listen to the desires, advice of designers, standard plans. All sizes can be found on the websites of furniture stores in the public domain. It is better to think in advance about the location of cabinets and shelves, and about where electrical appliances will stand.
  • After readiness general plan start working on it. Here we definitely work through each piece of interior, paint its dimensions, the number of cabinets, shelves, plywood thickness, protruding parts, etc.

So, the most popular options for a wooden dining table look like this:

A traditional table is made from a base, tabletop and legs attached to it. The assembly design is quite simple, the table itself is familiar to everyone, durable and easy to use. The change of design is carried out depending on the number of legs and their location, the size and shape of the tabletop, the design of the underframe. You can create more modern style, close to modern, or to arrange everything semi-antique.

Beam table - more difficult to manufacture. Consists of a table top and two side supporting elements. Beam tables create a traditional kitchen design, so they are perfect for people who do not like experiments.

A table without a base - this option is suitable for modern lovers, as it was created in a minimalist style. It is not massive, easy enough to assemble, goes well with any colors in the kitchen

Wall tables with folding table top– a daring challenge to old traditions and a small number of square meters. There is no more clutter of the entire room of an already small kitchen with a massive table - it can be replaced with a tabletop attached to the wall. The mechanism allows you to push and slide the table away from the wall and towards the wall as needed.

Chairs

The chair, like the table, perform the most important functions in the kitchen space. The design of the room depends on it, so the chair must be in harmony with the overall style.

No wonder most people choose wooden chairs. Pros of choosing wood furniture:

Wooden chairs come in the following categories:

1 Classic traditional chair

This model is the most common and popular. It consists of a back, seat and, as a rule, four legs. Classic chair - reliable, strong and durable construction. All parts used in the assembly are massive, fastened with screws. You can make not only dining chairs for adults, but also small ones for children. This will help to maintain a single eco-style in the kitchen.

Advice

So that the chair does not darken and does not look good, so that there are no roughness on it, the product must be sanded and covered with several layers of protective varnish.

2 Chair with upholstered seat

This chair is suitable for lovers of a more sophisticated style. They are more comfortable due to the soft fabric seat, the legs can be made thinner, and beautiful carvings can be made on the back. Plywood and boards - best choice for the manufacture of such a chair, they make it lighter and less massive.

3 Chair-chair

If comfort is as necessary as air, then we recommend a chair-chair. Making it with your own hands is more difficult than a classic traditional chair, but the work will pay off. This model will make your kitchen more comfortable, homely, especially if you sheathe the chair with soft upholstery.

These chairs can be used in other rooms, as they are conducive to work, relaxation.

Folding chairs will be convenient to use in apartments with small living space. As with a wall table situation, a folding chair helps save space, freeing up space for something more important. Although the folding chair is simple at first glance, it is not so easy to make, so it is better to carefully study the instructions and drawings.

First, you need to take into account that the chair will constantly be in dynamics, i.e. constantly fold, unfold. Secondly, it is necessary to take into account the weight category of all family members. The material for manufacturing should be light and durable, we recommend using plywood. If you take into account all the nuances, folding chairs will last a long time, they will be convenient to use both in the kitchen and in any other place.

5 stools

The easiest option for the kitchen is wooden stools. They do not have a back, there is only a seat and legs. There are several options here as well:

  • Choose the shape of the seat: round or square.
  • Number of legs: one or two to the classic four.
  • You can upholster the wooden seat with a cloth or simply varnish the stool.

Advice

The only problem wooden chairs- their weight, but this can be corrected by cunning. Choose more light tree, for example, linden, and then just repaint the chairs to match the color of oak

The easiest option for the kitchen - wooden stools

Wooden shelves

The main thing in the kitchen is its maximum functionality. Therefore, hostesses and hosts place interior items so that they take up as little space as possible, but have the best capacity. It is best when additional external attractiveness is added to the capacity.

Shelves have these two concepts of practicality and beauty, because almost no kitchen can do without them. You can make them yourself if you know the features of materials, size, shapes, as well as a single style, of which the shelf will become a part in the future.

The best woods for shelves are:
  • Linden is a light but durable tree that lends itself well to processing.
  • Spruce is a coniferous species that has medicinal properties, lightweight, crack resistant.
  • Alder - universal construction material, dense, perfectly polished, glued and cut.
  • Aspen - wood is strong, durable, does not warp, does not crack, retains heat.
  • Pine is a tree that is not prone to drying out, to cracks and stains, strong, durable.

The shelf is space saving and convenient

The boards must be even, smooth, without color irregularities, spots, cracks, the presence of which will spoil the appearance or soon render it unusable. The shelf is space-saving and convenient, and it also harmoniously fits into the interior. This can be achieved by selecting an option from the designs described below:

So the shelves are attached to the wall, usually from floor to ceiling, or a little lower. May look like ladders, such design decision will allow you to diversify the style of the kitchen, get away from standards, traditions. Their only drawback is that the shelves take up space from top to bottom, so they require additional space. But they will accommodate enough kitchen utensils. However, this is not the most popular option.

  • Shelves on the wall

The most common shelves are wall-mounted. They are placed above the table or between cabinets, because they do not take up much space, do not require additional space.

There are also several types:
  • The classic single wall shelf is the most common shelf design. The shelves are mounted on one wall, and their shape can be completely different - squares, rectangles, circles, even unusual shapes, it all depends on your imagination or the style of the kitchen.
  • The corner shelf is a practical shelf to use. Often people cannot use the corner spaces in the rooms, since no household items fit there. Therefore, corner shelves - perfect solution this problem. They are attached immediately to two walls in the corner. They can be made, for example, over the sinkto put a sponge or detergent there.
  • Shelves with glass or closed shelves - closed shelves are similar to cabinets, only much smaller in size. If in an open space we can safely store jars and other utensils, you can put something on the shelves with a door that was afraid or damp. You can also put festive dishes there (if the door is glass), decorating the kitchen.
  • Mods are an innovation in the world of shelves that entered the design world not so long ago. They are closer to modern or high-tech style than to classics and traditions. Very unusual design will attract the eyes of hosts and guests, as well as make the kitchen more modern. Mods are a prefabricated package, that is, you can make several blocks, assemble them into a single one of your own free will.

Before deciding which shelf is best for your kitchen, decide on the style you want to create. Another shelf style that does not fit into the interior can cause dissonance and destroy the overall impression of the room.

So, let's deal with the style of the kitchen and the shelf:
  • If your choice is a permanent classic, traditional comfort, then your choice is a massive wooden shelf of a rectangular, round or square shape. It will look good both in its pure form and with decorations, for example, with carvings.
  • High-tech requires high-tech and simplicity from the owners at the same time. We recommend a shelf in either very light or very dark colors, regular, preferably rectangular, shape. Adding backlight will be a great solution and will look good in the kitchen.
  • Art Nouveau style will ask you to show imagination, to do everything softly, without corners. The most advantageous here will look shelves of fluid or round shape, with smoothed, ornate corners.

A minimum of corners in an apartment has a beneficial effect on the human psyche, relationships in the family circle.

If you are completely different from everyone else, California or Texas sings in your soul, and the kitchen expresses country style, then correct and neat forms are definitely not for you! Here it is better to use painted boards, parts from unnecessary boxes, etc. The style should be as wild and daring as possible.

Before you start making a shelf, it is better to think about what exactly you will store there. Check the dimensions of things, make calculations, only then you can take it for work. Otherwise, you risk losing time, materials and money.

Whatnot

IN Lately it is generally accepted that whatnots are already the last century. The entire space of the kitchen is occupied by comfortable cabinets and shelves. In fact, wood furniture is back in fashion. The monotony of identical cabinets makes the kitchen boring, monotonous, and the bookcase in the corner of the room stores kitchen utensils and looks good.

It suits both lovers of traditional design and something new, for example, country style.

The bookcase is very easy to manufacture: several shelves that are connected using mounts or racks. They are universal, so they can be attached to the wall in any direction. A bookcase is one of the ways to divide a kitchen into zones depending on its location.

Advice

If there is not enough space and light in the kitchen, be sure to choose a tree for the bookcase in the lightest possible colors. Exactly light color will visually expand the space and make it more comfortable.

Why do bookcases have to be made of wood? The tree looks expensive, highly valued. It is also convenient and practical: in case the whatnot is broken, it is easy to fix it or modify it to the new desires of the owners, for example, paint or add decorations.

Also, the tree is well processed, carved, polished, does not go out of fashion.

Advice

Types of shelves that can be used in the interior:
  • Universal rectangular bookcases with 3-4 shelves.
  • Shelves in the form of stairs to the ceiling.
  • Corner shelves that fill empty corners with functionality.
  • High whatnots with two walls on each side.

Open furniture will bring more comfort to the kitchen, decorated in any style. This is a great reason to abandon too bulky cabinets and expand the room. Here you can put kitchen utensils, a small TV, indoor flowers and much more. It is also convenient to store fruits and vegetables that do not require freezing, and their wonderful and fresh aroma will fill the room.

wooden apron

Of course, we are used to hearing that an apron is what housewives wear almost around the clock on weekends while preparing food for family members. But the builders have found another use for this word, also directly related to the kitchen, and this is a wooden apron.

Kitchen aprons are very functional and comfortable, so if there is enough free space in the room, installing it will be the right decision.

He comes in two various kinds:

  • Single - monolithic wooden plate.
  • Prefabricated - from several elements of lining.
There are two ways of laying boards: vertical and horizontal:
  • We recommend using vertical for those who plan to place various designs above the apron: cabinets, shelves. Since the vertical arrangement makes the kitchen look smaller, but with cabinets on top, it is no longer noticeable.
  • Horizontal is preferable to use the owners of a small kitchen. The peculiarity is that horizontal stripes visually make the space wider and lighter. Use this little trick when you start making an apron.

Lighter, more spacious and cozier kitchen will make lighter woods, so if you want to achieve just such an effect, choose them. High-tech and modern styles can best be combined with dark colors, emphasizing the elegance and high cost of design.

Such wooden kitchen aprons do not require special care. Several times a month it is recommended to wipe them with a soapy solution and then with a dry cloth so that grease and dust do not accumulate on the panel and do not spoil the appearance. Also, several times a year, treat the panel with products that repel moisture. This will increase the life of the wood.

Wooden cabinet

Cabinets are a must for any kitchen. Despite the numerous shelves and whatnots, the need for them never disappeared. They are comfortable and multifunctional.

Kitchen sets made of wood amaze with their variety of shapes, attractive appearance and, of course, price. If you want to reduce the cost of arranging a kitchen space, then you can try to make furniture without resorting to the help of specialists. How to make solid wood kitchens yourself, we will tell further.

Kitchens from natural wood highly valued today. So, about 40 species of wood are known. All of them can be divided into two groups:

  1. Hardwood. It includes such species as maple, dogwood, mountain ash, beech, walnut, apple tree, ash. The hardest are acacia, oak, yew, boxwood and pistachio tree. They are usually used to create load-bearing structures that are subjected to serious loads. For example, for the manufacture of a durable furniture frame.
  2. Softwood. Examples are cherry, willow, spruce, pine, poplar, juniper, aspen, alder, cedar, fir and chestnut. Such rocks are used for the manufacture of various decorative elements, facades and other parts of furniture that are not subject to heavy loads.

What pieces of furniture can be made from different types of wood:

  1. Let's start with pine. She, as already mentioned, refers to soft rocks. Usually, small cabinets, facades, shelves or various decorative details are made from its array. A frame for upholstered furniture is also sometimes erected from pine.
  2. Beech is also a softwood, but its strength is almost the same as oak. Its disadvantages include the fact that it is able to absorb moisture from the air. Therefore, before using beech bars, they must be carefully treated with special protective compounds. Furniture made from it should not be placed in places with high humidity.
  3. From birch they build very beautiful furniture. They make chairs out of it. dining tables, carved coffee tables. Birch products should not be used in places where the humidity varies greatly. From this, the material quickly becomes unusable.
  4. Oak is also often used to make furniture. Large and bulky products are erected from its array. So, for example, beds made of oak are often found, bookcases and dressers.

Installation of a kitchen set

Create a template

Kitchen furniture, if desired, can be made using improvised means, special tools and materials. To avoid errors when cutting panels, you can buy or make your own template needed for marking and drilling holes. To do this, you will need two school rulers 20 centimeters long and a protractor.

Work order:

  1. The rulers are glued together in the form of the letter T. The angle between them must be right.
  2. Then, on the rack from the beginning of the intersection, several marks should be made and holes drilled. They should be made at a distance of 8 (for the end hole for confirmation and euro screws), 16 (for the thickness of the part), 32 (for the thickness of two parts), 60, 70, 90 and 110 millimeters. The latter are needed in order to mark the canopies and to retreat from the edge of the part.
  3. Holes are made with a diameter of 2 mm. This is quite enough for a sharpened pencil to enter them.

Despite the low cost of such a simple template, it will perform its functions no worse than a professional one.

Tools for the job

Do-it-yourself kitchens under a tree are easy to make. For this you will definitely need:

  1. Screwdriver.
  2. Drill.
  3. End cutter.
  4. Hammer.
  5. Pencil.
  6. Awl.
  7. Previously made layout template.
  8. Furniture hinges.

Making boxes

Modern cabinets are necessarily equipped with roller guides for drawers. Therefore, it is important to learn how to install them. And for this, first of all, it is necessary to accurately carry out all the necessary calculations. Without this, it will not be possible to correctly place the drawers in the closet, and as a result, even with a beautiful and strong frame, the furniture will be defective.

Usually, several sectional compartments are installed in wooden kitchen sets, which must be the same, so that any drawer can take the place of another. With this in mind, you should remember the extreme position at the lower and upper drawers (drawer). The façade of the top should overlap the tie with the under-table, and the façade of the bottom usually covers the bottom.

When calculating, it must be taken into account that there should be 18 millimeters between the center line and the bottom of the guide. Knowing the total thickness of the bottom and plinth, you can calculate a constant value (distance from the edge of the facade to the lower drawer). This is done by subtracting from the dimensions of the segment from the bottom end front side to the axis of the guide thickness of the plate used.

For example:

  • The size of the facade plate is 16 millimeters.
  • The thickness of the screw head is 2 mm (we add another 2 mm so that it fits tightly into the hole, it turns out 4 mm).
  • The value of the segment between the center line and the bottom of the guide is 18 millimeters.
  • Fixing height of the guide: 18+4=22 millimeters.
  • The size of the segment from the lower end of the front side to the axis of the guide: 22 + 16 = 38 millimeters.
  • Distance from front edge to lower drawer: 38-16=22 millimeters.

If, when calculating the height of the facade, it turned out to be about 163 millimeters, then for the normal operation of the retractable mechanism, the dimensions of the sides of 50-60 millimeters will be quite enough.

Between the body of the drawer of the table and the connecting jumper, you will get a distance equal to the diameter of the roller on the guide. To avoid swelling of chipboard, it is recommended to add another half size. So, with a roller diameter of 18 millimeters, the gap should be 18 + 9 = 27 millimeters.

To determine for each box the dimensions of the compartment in height, you need to add the length of the facade and the size of the gap. After that, you should calculate the distance from the top edge of the facade to the top of the drawer. To do this, add the size of the jumper and the gap provided for it.

Hinge installation

  1. From the end of the door to the center of the landing nest, the distance can be from 65 to 130 millimeters. The number of hinges depends on the size and weight of the door, but usually does not exceed five. From the corner to the center of the seat, the distance is approximately 22 millimeters.
  2. Using an awl, you need to punch a hole in the center of the nest for more convenient operation of the cutter. Depending on the type of hinges, the depth of the groove can be from 12 to 13 millimeters. Only when drilling, you need to take into account the thickness of the panel so as not to squeeze out the front of the door. To facilitate the work when drilling, it is best to use a sharply sharpened cutter.
  3. It is important that when drilling, the angle of the drill in relation to the panel is straight. Door for easy fixation, it is best to put it on the floor. In this case, the hinge should freely bend over the edges of the door.
  4. Before screwing the loop into place, use an awl to roll holes for self-tapping screws through the ears of the loop. This will help prevent the screw from moving to the side.
  5. Finally, you should tighten the screws. Hinge installation is complete.

Making kitchen countertops

With your own hands, you can make a kitchen countertop that will last for many years. Before proceeding with its manufacture, you should decide on the type of coating. Here we will consider countertops with two types of coating - “marbled” and tiled.

Kitchen materials

You will need:

  1. frame material. It is recommended to take a bar with a profile of 40 by 50 or 50 by 50 millimeters. In this case, the wood should be even, without visible defects. The higher the quality of the material, the easier it will be to make the skin.
  2. To clad the surface of a countertop for a kitchen under a tree, you will need tiles, glue for it and a grouting compound.
  3. To make the base for the countertop you need:
  • cement, crushed stone and sand;
  • strong metal rods (for reinforcing the structure);
  • plasticizers and pigments (required for concrete);
  • solid bars (for formwork);
  • aluminum or plastic profile(for finishing the edges of the structure);
  • liquid Nails.

Tools for the job

You will need:

  1. Small power drill or screwdriver.
  2. Bulgarian with a suitable cutting wheel.
  3. Master OK.
  4. Electric jigsaw.
  5. Grater for laying tiles.
  6. Spatula for concrete.
  7. Tile cutting machine.
  8. Building level.
  9. Roulette.

Frame and formwork

After purchasing all the necessary materials, you can begin to assemble the frame for the countertop. Since the weight of the structure based on a concrete slab is quite large, a special frame will be required for its installation. It is assembled like this:

  1. First you need to determine the height of the countertop.
  2. Then you need to make vertical racks of the frame from segments of the bars.
  3. Finished supports are fixed to the floor with metal corners. If any of them are adjacent to the walls, then they are fastened with anchor bolts in pre-drilled holes.
  4. After installing the racks, they should be connected to each other using horizontal jumpers. The result is an almost finished frame frame, which will remain reinforced with diagonal braces.
  5. Then formwork and countertops are made from boards. Formwork should be assembled in such a way that it can be removed without damaging the concrete itself.
  6. Inside the formwork, at the location of the sink, a ring of metal strip should be placed. If you need to install hob, along the perimeter of the formwork it is necessary to lay out wooden or metal sides.
  7. When the installation of the formwork is completed, it should be covered with plastic wrap. This is necessary to protect the floor from leakage of the solution, because it will turn out to be quite liquid.

Headset installation

After completion of work on the formwork, it is necessary to lay interconnected reinforcing bars. Then you can start diluting the solution.

It is prepared as follows:

  1. Take one part of cement and two parts of sand and gravel.
  2. All parts are mixed.
  3. To improve the quality of the solution, it is recommended to add a plasticizer to it.
  4. The solution is diluted with water and mixed until a paste-like consistency is formed.
  5. If the countertop is made of imitation granite or marble, then a special pigment is added to the solution, which can be bought today at any building materials store.

When the solution is ready, it is poured into the formwork to the desired level. After that, the surface is leveled and covered with a film. The mixture must dry. This will take at least one week.

During this time, you need to ensure that the solution does not dry out. To do this, periodically check the surface and, if necessary, moisten it with a spray gun.

After the solution has completely hardened, the formwork is removed, and work begins on finishing the countertop.

Finish lining

  1. Using a grater, tile adhesive is applied to the surface and evenly distributed. To improve the gluing of tiles in mortar, it is recommended to make grooves.
  2. Then the pre-prepared tile should be laid on a layer of glue and pressed. At the same time, it must be carefully aligned.
  3. It is also necessary to trim all the seams between the tiles in width. To do this, use plastic crosses.
  4. It remains to wait for the glue to dry completely and wipe the seams.
  5. Even at this stage, a profile should be placed on the ends of the countertop. It is fixed with liquid nails or glue. For reliable fastening, the profile should be fixed with clamps.

Making a dining table

Countertop for kitchen

  1. To make a countertop for the kitchen table, you need four edged boards size 50 by 150 by 1000 mm. You can use oak or pine. If the width and thickness of the bars are the same, then it remains to cut them to length on their own. It just needs to be done very carefully. Any cut must be made exactly at a right angle.
  2. In order for the boards to fit snugly together, before joining them in one plane, it will be necessary to process the side ends with a jointer. As a result, the tabletop should turn out beautiful and even. To carefully align the edge when jointing, apply the same pressure to the power tool used.
  3. The elements are connected to each other with screws or nails. You can also use dowels and glue. The last option will make the furniture more rigid. The side ends of the boards should be marked at a distance of 100-150 millimeters, but only in such a way that they coincide with adjacent bars.
  4. It is recommended to draw one line in the center on each side end. Then holes are made. To do this, you need a drill with a thickness of 8 millimeters. Dowels lubricated with glue should be hammered into the finished holes. They also need to grease the boards. Then they need to be knocked together so that they fit snugly against each other.
  5. Then you need to wait until the joints dry. After that, the excess dried glue that came out is removed with sandpaper.
  6. Knocked down boards need to be properly sanded to remove all the bumps present at the joints. Even with sandpaper or a rasp, the edges of the structure should be processed.

Table legs

  1. Table legs can be cut from the board in any shape. The first of them will be a sample, according to which the rest are cut with a jigsaw. Using a milling cutter, patterns are applied to the legs.
  2. Each leg should be carefully sanded. Then they can be collected. To do this, you need to cut the jumpers with oblique corners so that the legs are located diagonally.
  3. After which they are polished again. Legs can be put into place by one glue without using furniture dowels, but the final rectangle will need to be fixed with clamps. For complete drying of the glue, the assembled structure must be kept for at least one day.
  4. After everything is dry, you should attach the countertop. On the drawing and on the jumpers of the legs, you need to make markings, drill nests and hammer dowels. After that, glue the joints with glue and, finally, connect the countertop with the leg structure. Now the fixed parts need to be greased with glue.

The table can be considered ready for painting. Such products are usually first treated with a stain, and then coated with a colorless varnish. This will highlight the natural grain of the wood. After the first layer has dried, it is best to apply another one. The result is a high-quality table for the kitchen made of wood. A photo of the approximate result is shown below.

Wooden kitchens: video

Do-it-yourself kitchen made of wood - for many, these words simply mean an impossible job that is pointless to do on your own. But more and more craftsmen understand how hand-made furniture is superior to factory furniture. About this - in examples and details.

If you have some design and assembly skills, and in principle, the process of creating things with your own hands is more attractive than alarming, it is worth taking on such work. Numerous articles on the Internet that describe assembly technologies in such detail and present the results of labor so favorably become arguments in favor that there is no doubt.

The final argument will be the most effective - you will significantly save your budget. If all the stages of pricing used by furniture manufacturers are considered in detail, you will be surprised at the amount of markup. And how much sometimes the buyer overpays for the brand, and there is no need to say.

So make up your mind - a kitchen made by your own hands can turn out not only inexpensive, but also original, beautiful, durable and comfortable. And most importantly - successfully fit into the features of your apartment.

For some, this stage is the easiest, and someone thinks that taking measurements yourself is almost impossible. Of course, everything is possible, especially if you have the right tool at hand.

Measurement features:

  • The old kitchen needs to be dismantled and the walls cleaned.
  • Decide what type of headset you are making - straight or angled. If it is straight (along one or two walls), then the measurement can be done with an ordinary tape measure. More complex structures suggest the use of a laser rangefinder.
  • Measurements are made in three places: almost at the ceiling, at chest level, and 15 cm from the floor. In different areas, whatever one may say, there may be deviations.

About deviations / discrepancies should be said separately. Many sin on the bad faith of Soviet engineers, three or four centimeters of deviation in the level of the wall is not new for those who make repairs in Soviet-built houses. But by the way, the walls in even pre-revolutionary houses have the same deviations.

When the drawing is ready, you draw up a cutting map. A nesting map is a document that will give you the opportunity to see how the parts are located on the sheets of material. So you can accurately calculate the material.

Things to remember about the nesting chart:

  • Leave a margin of at least 10 mm from the edges of the sheet;
  • Leave a margin for a cut of about 4 mm;
  • If the sheet needs to be cut, the stock is also left at the place of the cut - that is, only 4 stocks;
  • Parts must be positioned so as to provide a through cut.

You can cut with your own hands, but it is better to rely on special programs.

Assembly of parts for the kitchen

So, the cutting is done, you ordered the parts according to the map or cut them out yourself. It would seem that all the most difficult is behind, and then just assemble the constructor.

But after you have received the parts, you have three stages ahead of you:

  • Preparatory work;
  • Assembly of the structure;
  • Headset installation.

IN preparatory work includes the processing of the ends of wood parts with an edge. It's easy and, moreover, interesting. Melamine edging is already considered yesterday, and today the trimming is done with plastic.

Stages of assembling a wooden kitchen: a diagram in stages

The assembly process can be conditionally painted in several steps. They are not detailed, but the technology and sequence of actions becomes clear.

Assembly process:

  • Measurements are taken, sketches are made to scale.
  • All free-standing elements are separated, the upper shelves and lower cabinets are delimited.
  • Treatment of assembled parts with antiseptics. Lacquered in three layers.
  • Facades are hung on varnished and dried elements. Then they are installed in their places.
  • The upper cabinets are easy to hang, but the lower cabinets will be installed according to the level.
  • A countertop is laid on the lower cabinets, but it is not immediately fixed. First, the places where the sink, stove, taps, etc. will be are marked. The tabletop is removed, then you have to make all the necessary holes.
  • The tabletop is also covered with at least three layers of varnish. Then she returns to her place and is already fixed.

Home-made kitchen sets are not inferior to factory counterparts, if you have made high-quality drawings, the parts are made of boards of good wood species, the cutting is technologically correct, and the assembly is done soundly with the help of good fasteners.

DIY plywood kitchen

Kitchen set from plywood is considered high quality, as the material is environmentally friendly, always looks natural and harmonizes with almost any overall design.

Of course, a lot depends on what kind of plywood you are going to make a kitchen set with your own hands.

Plywood classification:

  • Sort. It depends on how the outer base of the plywood looks like. The highest grade is marked with the letter E.
  • Plywood brand. She talks about the water resistance of the joints on the adhesive mixture.
  • Environmental performance. IN different types plywood different formaldehyde content.
  • The degree of processing of the base. The material may not be sanded at all, sanded on one side or on both sides.

To make a kitchen set with your own hands, it is better to take moisture-resistant plywood on an adhesive urea mixture.

It is believed that it is better not to find Finnish plywood, but domestic counterparts today are not inferior to this brand.

What tools will be required to make a headset:

  • Marking devices. At least a tape measure and a building level.
  • Electric jigsaw.
  • Submersible saw.
  • Special drills, crowns and countersinks. But a set of conventional drills will also be needed.
  • Screwdriver / screwdriver.
  • Hammer.

True, if you have plywood blanks, then the same plunge-cut saw is not needed.

Facade elements are treated with decorative stain. Choose any color that will be harmonious in the design of your kitchen space.

Then the plywood structure is covered with oil-wax. The end parts also need to be processed very well. If the plywood is taken of high quality, its texture does not need to be decorative trim. The front base of low quality plywood is pasted over with an expensive self-adhesive film.

A kitchen set made of wood or hand-made plywood furniture is not only savings and the ability to take into account all the nuances of your premises, but also an incomparable pleasure from the creation process. In addition, manual labor is especially held in high esteem today.

Great results!

The work will be carried out without the help of specialists, so special attention should be paid to drawing up sketches, which will reduce the risk of errors. In addition, it is necessary to properly prepare the wood, otherwise the structure will dry out and deform during operation. It is important to follow the sequence of actions during installation, because otherwise a large amount of material can be spoiled.

Types of wood for kitchen furniture

When choosing, take into account the breed, which will determine in the future operational properties designs. So, there are about 40 different types of wood, some are characterized by increased hardness, which will provide long-term operation products, while others are characterized by softness. If you plan to make a kitchen out of wood with your own hands, both types of material should be considered, since it is better to make the basis of the structure from more durable rocks.

Important to know: solid wood is difficult to process. For this reason, it is recommended that some of the structural elements be made of a softer material. Much easier to work with.

Solid, durable types of wood include beech, oak, yew, walnut. Such breeds need to be chosen for the manufacture of the headset frame, shelves.

Furniture decoration elements should be made using pine, spruce, cherry, poplar. For self-manufacturing kitchen set use a material that is characterized by moisture resistance. A structure made of solid wood of any species cannot last for a long time due to exposure to moisture. However, some types of material retain their properties longer when in contact with water. These include larch, oak, teak, mahogany, merbau.

Regardless of which type of material is chosen, the moisture content of the wood must be taken into account. Blanks can be used after drying. The material must dry naturally. The limit value of such a parameter as wood moisture content is 14%. In addition, a material with a uniform structure is selected. It should not have chips, knots, holes. Only in this case, you can count on the high quality of the material.

Deciding on design and construction

When do-it-yourself wooden kitchen sets are created, the color scheme plays an important role. The shade of wood can vary from light (beige, milky) to almost black (wenge). If it is important to preserve the natural pattern of the material, you should pay attention to the shade of the wood species when choosing, because at the end of the work varnishing will be performed. In the case when the structure is planned to be coated with coloring compounds, the color of the wood does not play a role.

To make a kitchen from wood, do-it-yourself equipment is prepared. If the user does not have the necessary tool, it can be rented for a while. It is advisable to do this in cases where it is not planned to engage in such activities again in the future. Required tool:

  • screwdriver;
  • electric drill;
  • jigsaw;
  • rule;
  • building level;
  • tape measure, laser rangefinder;
  • hammer;
  • file;
  • screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • hacksaw;
  • plane.

For work, sandpaper of varying degrees of graininess is prepared. It is required to connect elements from wood, wood-containing sheets with screws, nails, self-tapping screws. fasteners right size and type is selected taking into account the type of material. For example, nails are more suitable for a solid array. Screws, self-tapping screws - universal fasteners. A homemade kitchen is good because you can create a solid structure using the type of fasteners, as well as their number in accordance with your own preferences.

Stages of furniture manufacturing

Before using the boards, it is necessary to perform grinding and treatment with antiseptics. Wood-containing sheets do not require such careful preparation, since they have gone through these stages in the production process. Of the existing materials for wood processing, wood stain is often used. The next step is painting with varnish / paint. Alternatively, a self-adhesive film is used. At home, processing of blanks should be done before installing the headset.

A work plan will help to make the kitchen step by step with your own hands: first, the lower sections are mounted, then the upper ones. The headset is assembled first. The manufacture of a table, chairs, free-standing cabinets is carried out at the next stage.

Lower sections

Cabinets can be a one-piece structure - a rack for the kitchen. In this case, they are united by one tabletop, and the visual separation is facilitated by the presence of separate drawers for each cabinet. If in the future it is planned to periodically rearrange, it is better to make cabinets that are independent of each other. They may have a common or separate work surfaces with individual sizes. Sequencing:

  • the frame is assembled;
  • typesetting elements are prepared (door walls, drawers, stationary panels), make the necessary holes;
  • the cabinet is assembled, all elements are connected with fasteners, if there are no errors, the structure is dismantled and the wood is processed.

Rigidity to pieces of furniture is given with the help of metal corners.
