A frame one-story house should have a good roof height. The functionality and installation of additional parts in the attic space depends on this. Often, house designs provide for a second roof located above the porch and tilted to the other side.

Two-story flat-roofed houses can be built without placing too much emphasis on ground floor décor. The design of such a building allows you to build on the second floor a spacious loggia with large panoramic windows. Design features

A shed roof is a plane formed by a truss system. Rafter legs consist of individual rafters that rest on the walls of the building, located opposite to each other. For support, you can use one or two rows of rafter legs, but they must necessarily rest on the ridge end.

All components of the structure are stacked separately and mounted on walls of different heights. To connect them, ridge bars are used, installed in parallel on aerated concrete or on opposite parts of the building frame. The support for a pitched roof can be a brick, concrete or wooden structure.

Despite their structural simplicity, shed structures are divided into several varieties. Like other pitched structures, they can have cold or insulated material. Based on the material chosen, pitched roof houses may or may not include attic space. But due to opposite norms, an attic in its pure form is extremely rare, since its height must be at least 160 cm.

Placing an attic under a flat roof is possible only when there is a living space between the roof and the ceiling. Therefore, shed structures can most often be found in baths, garages, small country houses or over the porch.

According to the rules, the supporting walls must have different heights in order to ensure a spontaneous slope of precipitation. Due to this, during construction there is no need to organize an internal drain. The gutter, which is attached to the low side of a flat roof, does an excellent job of draining.

You can make a slight slope of the roof using walls or support pillars of different heights. Also, for this, it is possible to attach supporting structures to the wall of the house, having a height greater than the supports on the opposite side.

Materials such as corrugated board, metal tiles and roofing sheets are perfect for installing roofing, and plastic, slate tiles or ceramic tiles can be used to create the architectural appearance of a building.

Shed roof installation

Before starting work on the installation of the roofing system, it is necessary to create a clear project plan. The easiest way to understand the installation process is on the example of a small bath.

In this case, the rafters should rest on the top harness. In this case, the distance between the slings is equal to the distance between the racks of the walls, which greatly simplifies the task. For the manufacture of racks, it is necessary to prepare boards 5 × 15 cm. The height of the front wall is 2.5 m, and the back wall is 2.3 m.

Consider step by step the work plan.

  • We take a board and cut it into pieces of 2.6 m each. There should be as many details as there are racks in the front wall.
  • We do the same for the back wall. The length of the segments in this case should be 2.4 m.
  • We mount ready-made racks using special building corners for this. We temporarily fasten the extreme details to the jibs.
  • We check the evenness and slopes of the racks using the level. We make marks on the front posts at a height of 2.45 m, and on the rear - at 2.15 m.

  • We fix the side board according to the marks. We remove the excess.
  • We fix the side boards to the ends of the walls. To begin with, we try them on, attaching each board to the marked place.
  • We cut the side walls and install them with the same step as the support step of the front and rear walls.
  • We merge the extreme racks with the side elements of the frame of the front and rear walls.
